Will Trump's new tariffs on Mexico halt illegal immigration?

Funny how you guys think you understand tariffs better than the experts, and members of trumps own party…

Where’s that in the Trump platform???

No, we simply speak the truth here, at least among the current residents.

Members of his own party understand that some of their biggest donors don’t want to see illegal immigration or globalization will hurt them financially even if it’s good for the nation.

It never was, nor will it ever happen thanks to the 14th Amendment and it’s bastardization by the courts.

A part of globalization…:man_shrugging:

Two guys that need globalism to make their enterprises work, and the RT which is not good enough to put in a bird cage because it is already shit.

Calling BS here.

The experts have been regurgitating the same old warnings about Smoot Hawley and a great depression… as though the economic conditions are similar.

They have been proven wrong many times. Hell…they predicted a crash on Innauguration day.

Please understand the market is not a linear thing. It ebbs and flows and is not tied to a presidential term. Many factors affect the markets. The largest factor, the Federal Reserve. Their policies and management of the interest rates affect the market regardless of who is president.
Will we have a recession?
You bet.
When will it begin?
When mistakes are made just like the last one or when global events that are uncontrollable take place.

Is this president a factor in the next recession?
Not even close. However is the dimwits from the left and the conspiracy people all withdraw their money from the markets they could fire off a recession but they will not do that as they like everyone else want more.

It is almost a certainty that a showdown with Mexico is going to happen and the tariffs will go ahead with this latest bit of news!

Trump never wanted trade deals with Mexico or China for that matter, he wants to destroy them for all the years of their cheating and stealing and exporting the wealth from American workers!

“Mexico is a Narco-kleptocracy shithole and only when they are treated as such will there ever be hope for that nation. The Congo would have made more contributions to humanity if it were attached to a he USA.”

It’s just dollars and cents. Mexico gets more money from their illegals in America than they will lose in trade.

Remittance is going to be on the table if Mexico follows through on their threat which will cripple their economy!

Get that wall built!

And totally embraced by US corporations and multinational corporations which you patronize…

That will not lessen the impact of lost trade. It will be in the billions.

Their potential revenue from remittances will level out somewhat when the flow of illegals is reduced.

We could easily tax them at a high rate…say 50%.

To the TT, in a word…NO

You don’t know which companies he patronises, so stop trying to make assumptions!

30 billion and wait for the checks to roll in and be spent in the local economies.

Yes! In all seriousness yes they can! It already was authorised with the department of treasury as a bargaining chip weeks ago, but I suspect it will be one of those things that is a last resort type measure because it’s a huge revenue source for Mexico right now and who knows what kind of effect it would have! We should do it and it should have been done a Long time ago!
