Why is everyone misquoting Pelosi?

This is probably the only thing we should be talking about, because until that fact changes, nothing will really change

Then why are you arguing everything else?

Not sure, should we shift?

No. Some advocate the abolition of ICE which is a 21st century creation to begin with.

But the southern border has never been secure in its existence. For one reason or another, cheap labor south of the border has been exploited by Americans, even by the federal government during WW2.

Corporations large and small, as well as individual Americans have been and are the beneficiaries of illegal labor, and it’s not a left/right thing.

Big business wants open borders with the free flow of goods, capital and labor and both parties pander to big business and their lobbyists deep pockets.

Where’s the funding required to get people in front of a judge in less that 7 years? Where’s the funding to stop people from crossing the border forcing arrest and release into the country as w lack facilities to house them for 7 years? Where’s the funding from the House to uphold immigration law?

Where’s the laws to prevent false claims of asylum from the house.

That’s right there is inadequate funding for border security for 1 reason, the democrats do not want to enforce border security.

They’re talking out of both sides of their mouths as usual. The same people claiming they want “immigration reform” also support Sanctuary cities/states. What does that tell you?

And conservatives have been fighting to secure our southern border since the 70’s when we had our first illegal immigration crisis and the growing problem of the transnational illegal drug trade burgeoning.

Well, they all do, if you haven’t noticed, republicans in Washington have done very little to “secure” the southern border, and despite their lip service to Trumps wall out of some odd fear of him, there’s truly scant support…:man_shrugging:

Exactly right, but most Americans are too blinded by partisanship to acknowledge such a simple reality and so we get recurring administrations of the same old same old with nothing but finger pointing…

President Jimmy Carter’s administration proposed the construction of a fence along the most heavily trafficked parts of the border in 1979, but scrapped the idea following a backlash at home and in Mexico. “You don’t build a 9-foot fence along the border between two friendly nations,” Carter’s Republican rival, Ronald Reagan, said during the 1980 election.

Sure. It’s not like the Democrats have been obstructing every chance they get, offering “bones” they know the Republicans won’t go for in return for funding, or anything else they can think of to keep the status quo. Oh wait.

Republicans have never had the solidarity on controversial issues that democrats so easily muster.

The conservative caucus only makes up about 2/3 of republicans in congress and many of the rest are bought and paid for by the National Chambers of Commerce and other similar groups.

This always enables democrats to pull enough of the across the aisle when the vote is close.

I already told you that nobody wants Trumpian border security, never have. And you didn’t speak to the fact that it was Jimmy Carter who called for border fencing and Ronald Reagan who mocked the notion as something we don’t need. And he was the first to sign legislation to grant immunity to illegal immigrants.

In the end, the real truth is that neither party really wants a sealed border, and Trump is an anomaly, and amongst his thousands of documented lies, Reagan opposed border barriers, even though Trump has repeated his LIE otherwise.

What makes you think you speak for everyone when obviously you don’t and are completely wrong.

They did nothing to secure the border or attempt to secure the border for 2 years.
The Dems in the Senate didn’t have to fillabuster anything as nothing was on the table. But then again the GOP in the bubble of Washington are unaffected by the ramifications of open borders. Why should they do anything???

okay, If you’re going to make up shit at least be believable and actually post facts
border security during Carter’s time was an issue but he was more concerned with the boat load of Asians fleeing communist vietnam hence why he signed the refugee act , and Cuba (remember mariel boatlift)

as in for Reagan signing the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, can we at least tell the truth behind why he signed that?

The truth was Reagan made a deal with the Democrats and blue dog democrats to appropriate the funds to secure the border in exchange for a one time amnesty grant to almost 3 million or so “illegals”

The Democrats led by Tip O’neill the perfidious bastards they were and are , reneged on the deal and Reagan never trusted them again which is why he shut down the government how many times ??

Bullshit, the truth is the Democrats sees Illegal immigration as a political problem with no political solution, The Republicans are split on Illegal immigration, the Repubs that dont have any latinos in their district want border security the Repubs that have Latinos in their district that votes and has major donors from the latino community don’t want the Wall.

Trump who actually gives a shit about his country wants the wall.

They are very creative, whereas conservatives tend to be more able to analyze situations.

Nothing’s made up, Carter wanted border barriers and Reagan said it was a bad idea. That is fact. :man_shrugging:

No it’s not, Reagan opposed border barriers.

Yes, Trump and the Trumpers want a wall, who would ever dispute that…

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
