Why is Everyone Against Socialism?

It is what it is Jim, there once was no income tax, the constitution makes no such provision, but with increasing demands for ever more social programs and services comes taxes. It’s what people want. Huge strides were made towards socialism during the FDR years and Americans ate it up. So popular was FDR that Americans elected him repeatedly until he died. And plenty more have come along since and we will continue in that direction.

But eventually, the Goose That Laid The Golden Egg, will have a coronary. You know, it’s impossible to tax a country into prosperity. Simple math. Then again, eat, drink, and be merry. Tomorrow never comes. Until it does.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I think the biggest problem is wanton waste. There are literally billions flushed, that could have gone to much better use. The War on Poverty was a total waste of trillions. No positive ground gained.

If LBJ’s war on poverty disaster had been distributed to Americans; each would have received about $80,000. Possibly more. So what happened to the money. Show me the magic. Well, we know about 93% had to have gone to blood sucking administration. Then occasionally a bone was thrown to the masses.

And there’s still no enumerated power for these federal socal welfare programs.

Ain’t MARX the guy who lived off other people; and never had a meaningful income of his own; but instead marketed bullshit, that appealed to the dull witted? Two daughters who committed suicide. He thought he could change the world, but never considered the welfare of his own children. What a fucking loser.

Karl Marx Net Worth: $1 Million - $5 Million According to Wikipedia, Forbes, IMDb & Various Online resources, famous Philosopher Karl Marx’s net worth is $1 Million - $5 Million before He died. He earned the money being a professional Philosopher. He is from Germany. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yow, I guess socialism can pay off. ---------------------------------------------- Professional philosopher; well, anyone who has an opinion can call themselves that.

Thats just an old bullet conservative talking point that means nothing. But it is a fact that the infrastructure and social programs that have been created along the way have made life better for Americans. And it all cost money.

No, there absolutely is not and Americans have given two shits that there’s not. It’s what they’ve wanted and asked for, it’s the way they’ve voted, and it will continue in that direction, not the direction that you guys want.

The example of FDR is not completely on target here. FDR was elected at a time when the American economy had collapsed, there was 30+% unemployment “Hoovervilles” were everywhere, the farm belt was ravaged by dust storms…

Today the economy is doing well for all those who choose to work.

Socialism only appeals to kids who took majors at universities where indoctrination- socially enforced- revised/replaced history, or other liberal arts programs. They have large debts for degrees in stupid majors, and now embrace socialism as their financial savior.

Those things that were hailed as proof we’re all socialists are merely functions of a civilized society that deems them worth paying taxes for because you or I don’t want to have to drive to the dump, and we can’t build a superhighway. But all of these things while paid for by taxpayers, are ultimately created by private companies - who do a far better job than the government.

The disconnect between what a socialist imagines socialism would be, and what it always is arises from a failure/unwillingness to understand that government workers are protected from firing for incompetence, and have little motivation to excel at their job.

Another factor is the imperatives to prioritize racial, sexual and various cause du’jour factors over competency. It is not that the government seeks out the incompetent for hiring/promotion, but that they refuse to fire the marginal/incompetent. Those in the FBI or CIA would be exceptions mostly because lazy boneheads are weeded out early in training.

There are elements of collective action in any civilized society, yet it’s quite the leap to say that means the nation wants socialism.

Socialism is feared by the tradesman because he knows it doesn’t work.
Socialism is feared by the businessman because he knows it doesn’t work.
Socialism is feared by the professional because he knows it doesn’t work.
Socialism is feared by the worker because he knows it doesn’t work.
Socialism is feared by the STEM professor because he knows it doesn’t work.
Socialism is loved by the liberal arts professor and students because they’ve never worked.

Aside from the daughters, for a minute there I thought you were talking about Bernie

Geeze, you need to work to build infrastructure.

Social programs should be temporary, not a generational way of life.

As you can see in neighborhoods generationally dependant on social programs, the crime rates are pretty high. So, I’m not on board with it being a better way of life.

So, the direction “we guys” want via our votes doesn’t count? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

If the progressive arguments were so good, so inescapable then why didn’t they try to amend the Constitution to make them lawful?

You say it’s what people voted for? No, they never got a legitimate vote via an amendment prrocess. They got a hustle and flim flam. Progressives create entitlements not by debate but by spending for they know once the piggies have saddled on up to the trough they’ll squeel to high heaven if they’re ever taken away.

FDR was the worst POTUS ever. He inherited governance by constitutional means and left Arbitrary government in his wake.

A dishonorable man like few others. The most ineffective but faithful POTUS towers over effective and lawless.

See and that’s my point. That’s what conservatives say. But America loved him, elected him four times, and it caused a constitutional amendment to limit presidential terms. Anyway, what part of all the socialism that FDR brought us, that makes you consider him the worst president ever, went away after he was gone…

Yes, there’s a lot of confusion still thanks to Lintball and Hannity, FOX and a few others.

My problem is with wanton waste. I have no problem with necessary social services, as long as there is no abuse; or at least a check on abuse.

Of course that’s always subjective, and waste, fraud and abuse is an ongoing challenge.

Being human, I may have a hint of jealousy, seeing perfectly capable people, living off the system; while I worked honorable jobs my whole life. It irks me to see people who could effortlessly work, just slugging out. Especially when I’m shopping & see a family of illegals with two overloaded shopping carts & handing an ACCESS card to the cashier. Even worse, knowing “those” people should not even be in the country.
