UK/US now shitholes but why?

Well even a moron could read my posts and see that I haven’t said it was a US victory.

Guess we know where that puts you.

No, I never said that.

Afghanistan? We’ve suffered about 1/28th as many casualties in Afghanistan.

What does victory look like? As the Taliban, they’ll likely own it all within six months after we withdraw.

Obama cratered after the surge worked and allowed them to reconstitute and they took back all but the central provinces.

So you didn’t win the war, but you didn’t lose it either and 58,200 died trying not to win and not to lose - so were they heroes fighting to free Viet Nam for democracy or were they just innocent suckers in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Sounds very much like Amerikas foreign policy for the past 200 years - SNAFU.

No, of course the US didn’t “win” anything in Vietnam. NO objective for going in was met.

It was 58,000 WASTED American lives. Those mutherfucking assholes that start these bullshit wars never die in them, they live into fat retirement, the bitches…:rage:

The US was defeated by the US media, the US politicians.

One would have thought after Korea then Vietnam, politician should not be allowed to determine strategy when conducting a war.

One needn’t be a moron, but if you were a participant, you might be reticent to acknowledge such. Also that group of Americans that tend to be pro war, even romantic about it, they’re not likely to make such acknowledgments either.

Pay attention, we withdrew and turned the conduct of the war to S. Vietnam.

The original justification for going in to start with was to train and support their forces.

LBJ kept escalating the war and changed the mission for whatever reason sending in hundreds of thousands of combat troops by he end of his presidency.

The country was fed up with it, Nixon ran on bringing the troops home and did so.

She’s just lying, I never claimed we won the war.

Are you a she??? :man_shrugging:

It could be politicians relying on the advice of dumb generals?

58,000 men don’t normally die in training excercises do they?

Vietnam was a complete lose-lose situation, both for the Americans and Vietnamese.

For the Vietnamese: devastated land, killed and wounded relatives, families torn apart, not to mention the poisoning by agent orange.
For the Americans: veterans bring home the savagery of war in terms of violence, crime and drugs.

Only the banksters won.

When you have the WH determining the rules of engagement, the results are inevitable.

When you have an idiot like Walter Cronkite saying the US has lost the war after the TET offensive when the US and ARVN destroyed the norths ability to wage war in the south that was the defining moment when the media went off the rails. A US victory turned into defat by the media.

When you have a president afraid to allow US air power to cross a line, afraid of Chinese response, the results are predetermined.

Dumb generals? Stupid politicians and their stupid advisers.

On 1 November 1968, President Lyndon Baines Johnson declared a halt to bombing in North Vietnam , thus suspending Operation Rolling Thunder. Immediately, with North Vietnamese targets off limits, the air power directed at the north.

Failing to identify what the war as about:
(1) it was a civil war between pro- and anti-Diem groups in the South
(2) it was a war of reunification waged by the North against the South
(3) it was viewed by the United States as part of the conspiracy by the Sino-Soviet bloc to conquer the Third World and install Communist regimes.

Throw in the interference from politicians in determining strategy ensured the outcome before not began.

But then again the US has followed the same administration interference policy in every conflict since Korea.

And then did not support their efforts financially ensuring their defeat.

The question I keep asking about the US involvement in Afghanistan, but it never gets answered is 'Why the hell is it taking 18 years and counting to train the Afghan army? They can’t be that thick surely?

NB. I don’t want TWR to answer it - I’m sick of reading his ludicrous answers and I know his answer to this one will be just a ludicrous as all the others.

It was a war, known as “the Vietnam war”. The US lost billions of dollars, 58K soldiers not to mention the wounded, and face. The original objective never achieved…

The US is on a permanent war economy. There is no winning, there’s nothing to win. Indefinite war is the economic objective.

Are you too retarded to read the whole post or just too dishonest to quote it?

LBJ kept escalating the war and changed the mission for whatever reason sending in hundreds of thousands of combat troops by he end of his presidency.
