The Rabbit Hole

I note that God is singular. Would faith mean Christianity then?

Bravo.

Well said Jen.

Howā€™s life.

Weather is changing and spring is finally here. Nice days in the 70ā€™s and a bit of rain on occasion. Of course we cannot hike as the governor has the state pretty much shut down and most people need a haircut as that also is shut down. Canā€™t bit an auto but I can buy pay and alcohol and of course lottery tickets. Who could ask for anything more.

Hey Lou, glad to hear all is well. :slightly_smiling_face:

Itā€™s not too bad here, just most shops are shut and canā€™t do the nice things like eating out. We can still blast around on empty roads, which are looking more and more like normal every day. It seems like people are getting fed up and just trying to get back to normal. I am about the fittest I have ever been. I have been running or cycling on Zwift most days - have the full setup - usually for about an hour and race at gut busting intensities :joy:. I almost die most days. Itā€™s the opposite of drinking; you feel shit during but great afterwards. Of course, there is the real alcohol too. Panic bought quite a bit at the beginning of the lockdown when rumour had it that they were going to ban alcoholā€¦ :joy:

I consider myself Christian, wear a cross, read several versions of the Bibleā€¦do not attend church (except for occasional weddings and funerals), do not watch televangelists, do not proselytize, do not tithe, do not claim any denomination to be better than another (though I consider many tenets of Catholicism to be ridiculousā€¦

I believe that Jesus was the only manifestation of God in human form and appeared in the flesh to teach, suffer and die a human death to (among other things) show that there is nothing to fear.

ā€¦all this and I am a former deacon of a large Baptist church in my home state. I got a belly full of the hypocrisy and the mind control that is prevalent in so many evangelism witnessing programs.

Today, I consider no religion superior to any otherā€¦but I do recognize that radical Islam is a goddamned demented theocracy and NOT a religion.

Excellent.

I need to get back in the groove of exercise however duty calls. Tomorrow repair the sprinkler system.
Last week it was painting.
Week before re-carpet part of the house.
Every day a new unwanted challenge.

People here are a bit tired of the stay at home action, so everyone is again out and about. Th government has been closing parks for hiking as they claim people are not maintaining proper social distancing. A completely joke.

Exercise is really important especially at a time like now. Itā€™s needed just as much for mental health. We have a lot of trails on our doorstep, dog walking and mountain biking. We have been out on the bikes a lot. The dog has never had it so good, though he has developed a new habit of pissing on little yappy dogs.

It looks like the government is keen for life to restart, coming out with things like you will be able to meet 10 friends. All of a sudden I am expected to have 10 friends! :joy: I think they realised they have massively over reacted (but would never admit it). We have exhibition centres turned into hospitals around the country, all lying empty. Private hospitals lying empty (government paid for their use). Meanwhile, urgent cancer ops postponed. It is predicted that just as many will die prematurely from cancer now, as have died from Coronavirus. This isnā€™t about saving lives. It is swapping one life for another.

So it looks like we have trashed our economy for nothing. Maybe that is the global plan. Everyone got sucked into it except Sweden. So it seems everyone is desperate for Sweden to fail. I am hugely disappointed with this government. Was this what I voted for in December? Quite honestly, I donā€™t see the difference between what we have now and a Corbyn government. Whoā€™s going to pay for all this?

I think there are a lot of people reluctant to go back to work. They cite itā€™s not safe, blah blah. Many it seems want the lockdown to continue. There are calls to extend the furlough payments after the end of June (government is paying 80% of salaries). Why work, when you can get free money?! So we will have mass unemployment, industries will struggle and then there will be nationalisation. Big government to the rescue! Itā€™s what you always wanted, but didnā€™t know!

What is ā€œuniversal credit?ā€ I keep hearing it. We have TV ads for it. Has it replaced ā€œbenefitsā€ which replaced ā€œbeing on the dole?ā€ Is ā€œuniversal creditā€ meant to be socially acceptable now, as ā€œbenefitsā€ allude to scrounging and ā€œbeing on the doleā€ implied you were between jobs and just getting a little help to get by?

That is classic
The govt tells everyone to take 6 weeks paid holiday from the job they hate and now they canā€™t understand why everyone thinks the furlough should be extended
Maybe the sheeple arenā€™t as stupid as the govt thinks after all?

Iā€™m beginning to change my mind and think this might actually turn out well.
Think creative destruction.

The aim of all established religions (those which have been around for a few centuries) is to provide a stable environment where people can coexist and where families can flourish. Some have been corrupted to provide a means of mass-population control. Iā€™m thinking of the Vatican here. It takes a wise person to see beyond the smoke and mirrors.

ā€¦ and when I was young I had ā€˜Godā€™ rammed down my throat every Sunday, had to attend two different types of church service which has resulted in hardening the resolve formed when I was about 5 and the Sunday school teacher failed to adequately answer my question prompted by the statement ā€˜God is all around usā€™.

Anyway, I donā€™t criticise anyone for their beliefs. I have come to understand that belief is the most powerful motivating force which drives mankind.

It was all about preventing the NHS being snowed-under with dead, or nearly dead, bodies.

It was also exacerbated by not taking appropriate action soon enough, however I believe that the British population would not have embraced self-protection in the way that e.g. Taiwan has.

God is not a geezer nor is he punishing anyone. Heā€™s in his prime and eternal. Outside of time. He is the light in a higher realm, dimension and if one turns away from the light where do they go? Into the darkness where they are tormenting themselves.

I am not a churchgoer either, only on occation. I donā€™t believe in churchianity.
The church has mostly become one with the synagogue of satanā€¦ corrupt.
If I pray I do it privately or when I go for a walk.
God and Christ have proven real to me.
Itā€™s a personal experience and relationship each one of us has to develop by ourselves alone.
God is a loving father and a gentleman and if you seek him he will reveal himself to you.

75 years ago my parents and grandparents fought(and in some cases died) for what they believed was MY FREEDOM.
Now TPTB want me to celebrate my forbears victory/sacrifice over fascism, for my ā€˜ā€˜freedomā€™ā€™ - whilst I am under FUCKING HOUSE ARREST.
Gimme a break!! -They really are taking the piss now.

Last night I saw on TV a building in Hiroshima that has been preserved from when the Americans melted the city and along with it killed hundreds of thousands of civilians. Would that be considered a sin? Would Americans have prayed for forgiveness? Would God have granted it? If Hitler prayed for forgiveness too for what he (supposedly) did, would God have forgiven him? Or is it only ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  lives that matter?

If youā€™re a fat mess with diabetes and heart disease, would praying to God save you from dying of Coronavirus? What if you begged for forgiveness for your lifetime of gluttony?

The reason for the lockdown, so we were told, was to flatten the curve, not to overwhelm the NHS. Fair enough. Reluctantly we obliged. For a while now, we have had all the freshly fitted Nightingale hospitals sitting empty. So does this look like the NHS is overwhelmed? So then, why isnā€™t the lockdown lifted? Because they have in the meantime changed the goalposts, after sucking us all into doing as they want like good citizens. We now have to find a vaccine / keep the RO less than 1 / avoid a second wave / find a cureā€¦ now nothing about ā€œflattening the curveā€ because that has obviously been achieved. So really we were sold a pack of lies. Listen again to Borisā€™ speech ordering the lockdown! It was all about the NHS.

This is what you see at night now.
The big dipper in the spring position.
Pointing to Polaris or the North star.
