The Rabbit Hole

This reminded me of one my favourite meals - bacon and eggs aka all day breakfast. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

This study was completed to review all the existing studies which tell us meat is bad for you, processed and unprocessed. IE: Where the advice from the World Health Organisation comes from and our Governments
All of the authorā€™s credentials and conflict of interest declarations are there.

Evidence Summary for Harms and Benefits of Unprocessed Red Meat Consumption

For our review of randomized trials on harms and benefits (12 unique trials enrolling 54 000 participants), we found low- to very low-certainty evidence that diets lower in unprocessed red meat may have little or no effect on the risk for major cardiometabolic outcomes and cancer mortality and incidence.

This in itself isnā€™t saying that meat is good or bad but basically stating the current so called scientific studies provide no evidence. If you read that have reviewed all of what is considered to be the most important studies out there.

Ok Stu, you win. You win every argument including one on flat earth.

Out of interest, what is your RHR and blood pressure?

Jen I donā€™t feel like I have won anything, I wasnā€™t competing. I donā€™t have a discussion to win an argument including my thoughts about the shape of the earth. By the way I have never actually said ā€œI think the earth is flatā€, what I have drawn attention to are some things I have personal experience of and my scepticism about gravity but Iā€™m fine with receiving the ā€œFlat Eartherā€ label if that is what is important in these discussions. With regard to the ā€œMEAT IS BAD RESEARCHā€ just sharing information I have found to bring to the attention of people who obviously care and have some interest in nutrition, it what it is, it may not fall into line with your personal views but I do know that Harvard are planning the first ever proper controlled study on meat to better address the current situation and who knows it may well be that what you said is correct, when that is published but for now at least all the current research has been misleading people and that is a fact. Hopefully if this new study is fair and complete we will both know for sure either way. I have never said anything negative about your chosen diet and have often said here many times what is probably more important than anything else is eating fresh produce and cutting out all the processed crap.

Iā€™ve just checked my RHR and it was 63 not sure if Iā€™m actually rested but whatever. I donā€™t know what my blood pressure is but I have had a letter to say I need to pop into the quacks for a well mans M.O.T as I havenā€™t been in a long while. If I decide to go I will let you know what it is.

We all disagree about all kinds of stuff but that is fine ā€¦ this one is dedicated to all of us who disagree :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: itā€™s Friday tooā€¦ enjoy.

Where did I ever say ā€œmeat is bad?ā€ No matter what I say or use to support my assertion, you will always find something with which to dismiss it, whether it be the calibre of the author or the mention of a certain drug, all the while ignoring the true message. NASA ā€œprovesā€ the earth is round, but you dispute their worthiness, therefore it cannot be round. Never mind that it was proven to be round long before NASA existed. You see, it is very easy to criticise.

All I was saying is that I think in the developed West, we eat too much meat and compare the consumption with ā€œwesternā€ diseases, like CVD, hypertension, cancers etc. Of course you can say, it is only a correlation and you can cite a million other possibilities, like pink trousers. Sure. There are an awful lot of correlations which match up to the science, which match up to the reality that the people with the best longevity do not consume high levels of meat. Where are the conflicts of interest? Advising that we eat less meat isnā€™t making anyone any more money.

Hereā€™s a Friday tribute to vegetarians - they wrote this in honor of their vegetarian drummer, Chris Slade

You didnā€™t directly. I posted something for Rob and he replied saying he was going to raise his intake and you said Noooo and advised about 30g of proteinā€¦
So all I have done is respond because there is nothing to support it with actual evidenceā€¦ as you say donā€™t shoot the messenger. I wonā€™t always find something to dismiss your assertion but on this ocassion I just happen to have been fortunate enough to have read about that review and the work of those PROFā€™s. Itā€™s no big deal, I considered it as a bit of a service just to make you make you aware, thatā€™s all. All that being said, it was not intended to affect your personal opinion, that is what it is and of course that is fine

Yes I do but that is only my opinion of them I have no proof in much the same way as they donā€™t.

I donā€™t see who or what I have critised Jen, Iā€™m certainly not criticising you, just pointing out the information I had found. I myself was not aware that there was no hard and fast data but had my own suspicions and found some information, what is so bad about that ? Iā€™ve already said your opinions could well be right but we will need proper data to know not just a bunch of coincidences. This is not critical of you this is being critical of the idiots who put this data out without giving us the full picture and this where my OPINION comes in that it is agenda driven.

Again that is absolutely fine and I have no problem with that as your opinion.

Again there isnā€™t the data to support it because the stats they do have wrap up meat eaters with every other piece of crap available too, so it skews the findings.

Oh come on Jen both sides likely have an agenda cash wise, lots of space taken up by crop growers and the media slant is very much towards us all eating leaves only.

Only this morning I noticed a Front Page Headline in the ā€œIā€ newspaper with a big pic of veg etc saying ā€œVEGAN BOOST AS 40% OF MEAT EATERS CUT BACKā€ and someone shared a photo of a supermarket selling ā€œVEGAN TRAINERSā€.
And this is probably the thing that pisses me off the most is that the advice from WHO/governments is agenda driven.

Not available in my country but wasnā€™t that an instrumental ?

Simple lyrics, but no

:+1: Oh Ok my musical memory is not too bad but I donā€™t remember that one, will have to dig it out somewhere and have a listen.

Hereā€™s another one from them - they did some good songs

Yeah definitely, nice intro by whispering Bob there.
Blinded By The Light still stands out for me.

The agenda for veganism is 1. anti capitalism 2. to control and create a generation of sheep 3. to make people ill and stupid, thus dependent and easier to control.

There is no control agenda for eating less meat. I am not advocating veganism!

You donā€™t know that and I know you donā€™t advocate veganism.
Everywhere I turn in the media meat is being slaughtered (no pun intended).
To push veganism you have to demonize meat and dairy. They do it with fish too but it is more subtle.

Edit:
Did you see Question Time last night ? It was in Liverpool, I havenā€™t watched yet but apparently it was loaded with some embarrassingly pathetic people.
