No, it was 6’4! Funny you say that. On Zwift I am always flagged for being the lightest on a list of race participants, so I look to see who is the heaviest. I noticed someone at 146kg!! Frigging heck, the next race is a hilly one. And I do have a better advantage running than some big bugger, simply because running involves more gravity which favours lighter people.
No the fact is the accepted figure is 50-60% of all protein via gluconeogenesis is available as glucose, it only gets turned into fat if there is a caloric surplus. At maintenance or deficit it is available and used. Higher level of meat protein does not have the effect you talk about because of the higher amount of Leucine, which better regulates Insulin secretion to stabilize the blood sugars following a meal. Any type of food intake creates an insulin response and the initial post was about a higher amount of protein, that should not be mixed up with a constant supply of protein or grazing all day. As obviously in that instance Insulin will be raised the whole time but in normal eating windows there is no data to support (so the experts say) the idea that higher levels of protein like 80g-100g have any adverse effects. The RDA figures are apparently nonsense and the experts suggest it actually needs a serious looking at as it was introduced because so many people are protein deficient.
I hardly ever skip breakfast. I consider it the most important meal of the day.
Sometimes I skip lunch. Dinner comes about 12 hours after breakfast, but never later than 8 pm.
Here lately, I’ve been off my normal sleep schedule and have been getting up as late as 10am…sdkipping lunch and having dinner at 8pm. (There’s your 12 hour span.)

Not all protein is equal shall we say. If you throw a 16oz steak down your neck with chips fried in crappy veg oil and a load of sugary dressings etc well we know how that works out…
It’s getting the balance. The older you get the more quality protein you require to maintain muscle mass. When the muscle disappears we become a pile of bones that can’t move.
Yes, muscle deteriorates with age. The answer, however, is more to do with weight /resistance training than eating extra protein.
Plenty of quality protein in that. Adding crap to it does not take away the protein.

Again agree but the issues will arise from the added crap not the quality protein.
That is fine for keeping your insulin level, but you won’t get autophagy till at least 16-20 hours of fasting.
The body has no means of measuring calories. It has nutrient sensors, in the case of glucose, insulin. If insulin is high, more glucose will be converted into fat (lipolysis) whether it is surplus or not. That is why people who are insulin resistant are often lethargic and fatigued. The body is so busy storing their energy as fat, they don’t have enough to run on.
The bigger issue with excess protein is excess mTor. As I said earlier, that is inflammatory and it is not a good idea to have that high.

I usually miss breakfast, I stuff in coffee with as little sugar as I can tolerate and that stops me wanting food until later in the day. Then I eat lunch (try to delay that until 1pm ) and another meal in the evening which is unfortunately difficult to schedule.
After Christmas I am still down 5kg from last August (-ish) and I am targeting another 4kg by the coming summer.
One things for sure, if we ate together we’d never fight over the food. I love carrots and celery and hate lettuce, salads and coleslaw.
I have a ton of food dislikes, but oddly enough I love liver, anything with lots of blood, offal. I’ve never had haggis but it sounds like my kind of food. Most people hate that stuff.

Great! As @asaratis said, one meal a day would definitely have it dropping off you. Apple cider vinegar increases insulin sensitivity, so that helps. That is the main reason why I don’t take ACV, plus I find it tough to down . If one meal a day, every day, is difficult, even twice a week is very good - that is actually 24 hour fasts. Go easy on carbs especially refined carbs.
When I do 40k on the bike, I would probably burn 2500 calories that day in all (my watch tells me) and then I don’t eat for 24 hours, that is one hell of a deficit. I can easily do something like that twice a week plus the rest. So I try to eat more.

The Miracle Cleanse that I edited into post 7209 is much more palatable. I think the honey makes it so…can’t be the lemon juice or cayenne.
