OMG, there is a high class Mexican restaurant I go to. The Carne Asada is the best. Not greasy at all.
Then, the Colombia? Same there and I love the Yuca

Rule of thumb for me: everything in moderation. Avoid processed foods.
If you crave something, it is probably because you are deficient. Sometimes I crave (for instance) sardines or olives. So, I eat them and feel better for it. I never crave junk food or processed foods.
Jeez, this truly is a rabbit hole, everyone eats nothing but rabbit food
I thought the grease from the pepperoni smothered the germs.
Ha ha yes the pizza is BALANCED perfectly in the lap .
Yeah I know no crazy vegan attacks but just saying you can find evidence to pretty much support anything these days. That guy Professor Don Layman has spent 40 years researching protein metabolism and says much of the literature on the subject is just plain wrong and has done the studies to support his statement. He says as we get older we actually need more protein… who knows for sure I suppose. All we can do is listen to what they say and decide if it sounds logical.
The whole lot maybe nonsense , one thing I do think is worthwhile, is trusting your own instincts, if you feel good eating certain foods and thrive then continue, if you don’t then listen to your body.
No other than his calling a spade a spade. Only heard of “Q” in J.Bond
EDIT this was supposed to be a separate post but fell due to the 3 post rule. Anyway it is sort of connected.
Meanwhile the media want us focused on royal bullshit ginger nut and his mrs. We must be getting ready for a war or a financial disaster.
It’s not about listening to anyone. It is about having your own understanding of the metabolic pathways involved. Excess proteins get turned into glucose. Excess glucose is treated like any other sugar, gets turned into fat. Insulin levels rise. An adequate and constant supply of proteins means no autophagy or mitophagy. These are facts.
What if it is sugar you crave? Many do and satisfy those cravings. It actually means insulin resistance. High insulin creates a sugar craving. Sugar spikes insulin. And so it goes on.
That’s why it doesn’t make good sense to eat more than three meals a day. An insulin spike comes with each meal.
Better to eat only twice a day…or once a day…than to eat three meals and several “snacks” during the day.
I can easily hold to 3 meals a day with a substantial breakfast, a medium lunch and a medium dinner…with dinner coming several hours before bedtime.
I use water, black coffee and unsweetened tea to keep from feeling hungry between meals.
The Media and People focused on the theatrics of red and his mrs are not focused in BREXIT.
You would be far better off eating all your meals in say, an 8 hour window. It is the length of “fasting” that is important. If you want to eat late, then skip breakfast.
We have a habit of eating early because the kids have to get their homework done, bathed and to bed by 7:30pm. Often I miss breakfast. So lunch would be at 12 and dinner at 5pm. I don’t eat anything after that. Once or twice a week, I do a 24 hour or 30 hour fast. I rarely feel hungry although I cycle 50-100km a week, mostly racing (indoor on Zwift) or mix it with about 20k of running a week. At this time of year, it is all indoors, so I don’t have the effects of fighting the elements showing on my face. I am very toned and lean and find it impossible to put on any weight doing what I do and with my eating habits. I’m fine with that.
…and I’m betting you could easily outrun any 6’2" man!
No, it was 6’4! Funny you say that. On Zwift I am always flagged for being the lightest on a list of race participants, so I look to see who is the heaviest. I noticed someone at 146kg!! Frigging heck, the next race is a hilly one. And I do have a better advantage running than some big bugger, simply because running involves more gravity which favours lighter people.
No the fact is the accepted figure is 50-60% of all protein via gluconeogenesis is available as glucose, it only gets turned into fat if there is a caloric surplus. At maintenance or deficit it is available and used. Higher level of meat protein does not have the effect you talk about because of the higher amount of Leucine, which better regulates Insulin secretion to stabilize the blood sugars following a meal. Any type of food intake creates an insulin response and the initial post was about a higher amount of protein, that should not be mixed up with a constant supply of protein or grazing all day. As obviously in that instance Insulin will be raised the whole time but in normal eating windows there is no data to support (so the experts say) the idea that higher levels of protein like 80g-100g have any adverse effects. The RDA figures are apparently nonsense and the experts suggest it actually needs a serious looking at as it was introduced because so many people are protein deficient.
I hardly ever skip breakfast. I consider it the most important meal of the day.
Sometimes I skip lunch. Dinner comes about 12 hours after breakfast, but never later than 8 pm.
Here lately, I’ve been off my normal sleep schedule and have been getting up as late as 10am…sdkipping lunch and having dinner at 8pm. (There’s your 12 hour span.)
Good job this is here or someone would be triggered.
