The Rabbit Hole

I have just realised how perfectly that gives her a 'tache

You are right … they are almost untouchable

I believe that question has been clearly answered

Well pardon me if I missed it, would you kindly repeat it for me or direct me to the place where it was answered???

Now … lemme see … I believe it was here!

I see you are paying attention!

I apologized to you if I had missed it, was the snark really necessary?

Are you suggesting by that that your Supreme Court is moot? Do they have no use in existing or ruling? Was this weeks ruling theatrical?

Refresh my memory.
I thought Britain was conned into EU.

After the Maastricht agreement was rejected, they came up with the Lisbon Treaty (so-called) which doesn’t even justify EU.

It was just a “common market”, was it not?

@Jen

Yes and my response was to Jen as well - International law only supercedes UK law if we sign up to it, like we did with the Lisbon Treaty. So Jen was right. We signed up to the Lisbon treaty which means that law emanating from EU overrides or supercedes UK law - That is why we want to leave but in the mean time we must abide by the current rules, .

So are you too suggesting that your Supreme Court is toothless???

My knowledge of the questionable history of EU is limited, but EU can make the British court toothless, seems like.

Sounds like I’m going to have to look elsewhere for the answers to my questions about the British Supreme Court.

What are trying to prove?

According to this 1964 case, community law supersedes national law in the event of conflict. Doesn’t the community at large oppose Brexit, and if so, why would they oppose this recent British Supreme Court ruling that declares Johnson’s suspension to be unlawful???:man_shrugging:

Not trying to prove anything, I’m asking questions that aren’t being answered in a manner that I can understand. Perhaps you can help.

Does the British Supreme Court (BSC) take up issues to rule on of their own accord, or must they make their way through the lower courts and be appealed to the BSC, and accepted by the same?

Once the BSC makes a ruling, do they issue a brief describing and defending the ruling?

Does the fact that community law supersedes national law when the two are in conflict mean that the BSC is generally moot, toothless, irrelevant, or only if and when it rules in conflict with community law???

What part of the 2016 in/out referendum result did you miss?

Are you trolling here?

In context, I was referring to the member states of the larger EU community, not individual British citizens which everybody by now knows by a narrow margin support Brexit…:man_shrugging:

Who gives a shit what they think? We pay, they receive. Would they want to be rid of the second largest contributor to the coffers? Without our money they are doomed, so doh, let us ask their opinion if they want us or not.

Do you not understand democracy? What relevance is the size of the margin?

I can’t believe I am having this conversation.

I do, and I’m asking the question. Feel free not to answer it, it’s your prerogative.
