Eminent domain is the larger issue, but you could be right in terms of expense!
So itās world wide. And they were encounters on the āwatch listā.
Is that the same watch list that Ted Kennedy was on?
Inquiring minds want to know.
To be really effective we need deep footings, pillars etc, ground sensors and surveillance and double fencing/wall (whatever you want to call it) with at least probably 30-50 yards between the two.
You also need the ability to have agents on scene anywhere along the border in under 10 minutes.
The less secure the physical barriers are the more agents you need and the quicker the response time needs to be to be effective.
Remember the main objective here is physical deterrence, second to slow those who do cross enough that they can be caught, and third to allow them to be interdicted as quickly as possible before penetrating deeply into the country.
Simply catching them certainly doesnāt solve the problem even if they are caught right at the border as they cross since we currently have a backlog of around 800,000 immigration cases which results in thousands of illegals being released onto the streets every month.
The only way we can even begin to address the backlog is to cut the flow of illegals northward across the border to a trickle and physical barriers are essential to that.
As soon as they cross into the country they become long term burdens on the taxpayer unless they choose to be āturnaroundsā, which literally turns the border into a two way revolving door.
The system is already overwhelmed and failing which is Trumpās biggest weapon and solid reasoning for declaring an emergency to secure the border.
How do those that have already been booted out of this country get back in?
You can look up the location of any jail or prison in the US as well, but youāre not gong to download the plans for them nor is anyone going to make available to you future security upgrades for them.
If you really want as much information as is publicly available contact the US Customs and Border Patrol and ask them for links.
For viewing members pleasure this poster is sayingā¦let them all in and allow the courts to decide.
He must be immigration attorney.
Eminent domain isnāt a particularly big issue except in Texas. The Federal and State Govāts already own much of the rest of the land along the borders.
https://www.usgs.gov/media/images/pad-us-map-viewer
https://www.usgs.gov/news/mapping-public-lands-united-states
Along most of the border in Texas the fedās already have easements for the border patrol so again, not that big of a deal.
The courts have also routinely upheld govāt claims for infrastructure particularly when a legitimate crisis or state of emergency has been declared.
Take a look back at the TVA and similar projects in the thirties and forties where hundreds of thousands of acres of land were taken by the govāt for dams, roads, highways, and powerlines.
'Educated guess" hell, you have no basis whatsoever for making such a claim.
At least 15 known terrorists and people associated with terrorist groups have been caught entering the US across our southern border so the probability that others have succeeded is 100%.

Then evidently California will hold half of house representativesā¦because they count them in their census.
More people they countā¦more representatives theyāre allowed to have in congress. And lets not for more electoral votes.
Duh! Airport security is much more efficient than what we now have on the southern border. Why? Because people coming into airports on international flights have to go through lines, show identification, are subject to search and seizure, cannot bring certain items, may be sniffed by trained dogsā¦
It is no wonder that more terrorists are intercepted at airports.
Entry through border ports of entry (I believe there are over 50 places designated for legal entry) are not subject to near the scrutiny that they encounter at international airports.
More drugs are intercepted at legal border crossings than by illegal pedestrian crossings because drugs can be easily hidden in trucks and cars.
How many foot mules do you think would be needed to smuggle in the drugs found is this ONE TRAILER?
Thereās a hell of a lot of drugs packed in by mules as well. The People running the logistics end of things with the cartels are not stupid, they continue using diverse methods.
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/07/25/us/drugs-border-wall.html
Look at it this way. Take a hundred kilos and give divide them between 100 mules. The chances of all hundred being caught are astronomically low if they enter from multiple points and quickly disperse and join others in small groups of illegals making their way through the country.
Send that same hundred kilos in one load through a checkpoint and the odds of losing it all in a seizure are much higher.
Pretty much every method we can imagine has been used and will continue to be used.
Iāve even seen dope surgically inserted into horses and cattle that are then trailered, driven, or ridden across the border and reclaimed later in the US.
People routinely swallow large amounts of coke, meth, and heroin in the form of small balloons, condoms etc in order to get across the border then puke them up or pass them out later.
One thing we know for sure is that with effective physical barriers and monitoring we can channel more and more of the drug traffic to our legal ports of entry where we can focus more resources on interdiction.
Ahh good to know, as I was only repeating what I have heard from other people and their concerns. If what you are saying is true then its one less obstacle to overcome!
I totally agree, and just as you articulate there needs to be wholesale changes in how we address this issue not just having a border wall, but changes to policies as well!
BTW this is a very constructive dialogue we are having at arriving at suggested solutions to one of the most important issues facing our country!
The welfare and healthcare will bankrupt them. From the ashes multiple states will arise.
What must happen?
Add judges to the court system to clear the back log of cases regarding illegals and asylum.
Revisit asylum laws to be very specific.
Change immigration law to focus on people the US needs not anyone who wants to come to the US.
End chain migration.
The list is endless.
In the end, nothing will be done as congress would need to act which they will not.
Itās a matter of scale.
Even if we crated 500 new immigration courts to deal solely with the backlog of cases that currently exist, figuring 2 hours of court time per case, 30 hours of actual court time per judge per week with a 52wk court year it would take over 10 years for them to catch up.
If we donāt first secure the border the problem is insurmountable, the cost to the taxpayer over 250bn per year and the cost to the economy and per capital GDP many times that.
40 years of both parties kicking the can down the road has left us with a real crisis that is only going to get worse if itās not dealt with now.
40 years of both parties kicking the can down the road has left us with a real crisis that is only going to get worse if itās not dealt with now.
Amazing how both parties ignore the reality that immigration law os a joke and our border doesnāt;t exist and anyone can stroll across the border.
Just as you list actual numbers, why canāt Trump lay out the facts in terms of dollar amounts just as you did when addressing the American public? Do you think laying this narrative out in plain concise language would be effective and powerful enough for the American public to understand what is at stake?
Well if nothing is done to address this major crisis, then America is going to become a third world shit hole, and I for one will not be party to that. I will defend America and fight for her at all costs, but at some point you have to reach a conclusion of cutting your losses for self preservation reasons.
Trump has a real problem putting together a cogent sentence that is fact based at any given time.
Recently he gave a speech talking about how border walls have improved security in cities along the border like San Antonio. Well the press ripped him apart because San Antonio is 115 miles from the border. Obviously he wast talking about El Paso but mixed up the names which made him look like a fool so such a speech probably isnāt possible. Heād be better off delegating it to someone who can read the teleprompter and ad lib cogently when asked questions.
