Pundits and Thoughts on Them

I will readily concede this point.

Can you grade the other side please?

Thanks for the quote. Now address the point using your own words.

Confirmation bias doesn’t insist evidence is wrong.

Confirmation bias refers to media consuming habits. The media itself might well be accurate, but if you only consume one type of media, you are only getting part of the overall picture.

For example, regarding this current wall debate. If you only watch Fox and Friends In The Morning and shows like it, you will learn that the president stayed in washington, the dems tried to go on a trip, the president wants to make a deal.

These things are true. And can not be denied.

However, if you also listen to other news sources you would learn the president already turned down a deal for 25B, the preseindet proudly proclaimed he owned this shut down, the D’s upped their bid by 1B, and Democrats in the house passed a bill to reopen the govenemt.

Those facts are also true, but you might not seek them out because they go against your notion that Trump is not to blame for this shut down.

Speaking of confirmation bias, why is it that every time I view die-hard left wing echo chambers on the internet that Marxists use confirmation bias at every given opportunity?

One example out of many:

They claim that communism doesn’t fall apart because they were first into space with their space program in 1959… but on the flip side, when they are asked why the USSR system inevitably fell apart, they state these things about it:

  • It wasn’t real communism!!!
  • Evil American capitalists ruined it, it wasn’t communism’s fault!
  • Dude the USSR was actually modern day national socialism they hated homos and degeneracy haha

So what’s the end verdict here? Did a “real” communist system have a successful space program or not? There is no clear answer. I don’t understand how these commies can use the USSR or any failed communist system’s accolades and then follow up with it how wasn’t a real communist system. Makes no logical sense.

To me these idiots only try to master the art of mental gymnastics to further their agenda, the promised utopia of socialism/communism has been tried over and over again and has always burned into the ground. Which begs these questions:

What is their end-game? Are they simply masochists who use their political views to make their behavior socially acceptable to a certain extent? Do these people only have emotional attachments to the benefits to positives of this system while shutting out the negatives? If so, why are they surprised or do not understand why the general population hates them?

That they won’t, Goal is to hide in the shadows and try to undermine their enemies.

And enemies are free thinkers of this world.

I hate that term. Because it makes me question everything all over again.

If you believe in something, put your faith in it, there is no such thing as confirmation bias.

So easy to shut down a conversation on that premise. Sometimes you have to take things at face value. And that’s what’s going to happen, inevitably. And then they will know.

It’s called gas lighting…it’s what they do. Dont let them trick you into questioning what you know to be true.

Well, not honestly. I don’t really listen to left wing pundits, except I guess the ones on CNN panels that I happen to hear in the car.

I feel like liberal pundits just aren’t as popular as conservative pundits.

There was a time 20 some years ago when my commute had me in the care 3+ hours a day. I used to listen to sean hannity and rush limbaugh - and Howard Stern - because they put on good shows and keep me awake.

I don’t drive as much now I still listen to howard. I don’t seek out hannity or limbaugh any more. Grew tired of the predicidible shifting of positions and constant anger at our fellow americans.

But try as I might, I could never find a liberal radio host who put on a good show. Ed Schultz was OK, but not that engaging really. Alan Comes used to have a show, but never really held up.

I don’t know…say what you will about Fox…they are very good programers and can hold an audience, even if that audience doesn’t identify as conservative.

CNN does OK on that front I think - good programers, but not quite the same level as fox.

You can just as easily use that term to attack the people using that term against you.

I’ll try…

First I generally agree with your OP. I also believe opinion television is opinion television. Some are worst than others, but it is what it is. On the left you have Maddow… who to me is the equivalent of Tucker on the right. Tries to sound intellectually superior but usually heavy on opinion and light on facts.

However here is the difference I see between left and right pundits.

It seems right now the right deals Heavily in conspiracies. I watched Hannity the other night and he spent the first 20 mins talking about the “deep state”. I was fascinated because he was recycling disproven conspiracies and blaming it on the deep state.

The left wing pundits rarely deal in conspiracies but they also omit facts to get to the point.

I can’t stand conspiracies. There are a lot of conservatives that don’t… like SE Cupp. But a lot of the heavy hitter do (hannity, pirro)

The concept of confirmation bias is completely idiotic.

The fact that many structurally sound vehicles operated by conscientious drivers are involved in accidents and the fact that many structurally compromised vehicles operated by ignorant drivers are not involved in accidents does absolutely nothing to negate the direct causal relation between structurally compromised vehicles operated by ignorant drivers and accidents.

What point would that be?

Good post. It doesn’t have to be media consumption.

Anything can be denied.

Is it? What does that term mean and where does it come from?

“They” who?

Good Lord that post is all over the page.

How are you any different from them?

Of course there is. But I liked your post.

Hey guy - do me a favor and stop the trolling. People are taking the time to respond to you and all you got is snarky one liners where you are needling people. Cut the shit.

Fair enough. It doesn’t have to be radio or tv though.

Who are you that I should do you any favor at all?

“Snarky” is not a term a man uses, but your feelings about the way I post are no concern of mine. If you don’t like them, don’t read them.

You want to force me to do things your way? Totalitarianism is an abomination before man and God. You cut the shit and wind your fucking neck in.

Guy.
