The ISIS prisoners would create a bigger problem than the Kurds. It would divert troops from Syria to fight them. They could sit back, do nothing and let Erdogan struggle with them.
All sides should have negotiated a homeland solution years ago.

The problem here is that if we do anything to promote the removal from office the leader of a NATO member state we have just opened a huge can of worms.
Unfortunately Erdogan’s purge in the wake of the failed coup probably ended any hope of him being forced from office by his own people.
I have some good friends in Turkey and I hate seeing what is happening to their country and there’s not a damned thing they can do to stop it.

Some countries need a dictator, especially in the middle east region; that’s why we should have asked Saddam - begged him if necessary, to take over the reins again, but we’ll (the West) be keeping a close eye on him. But what do we do? Why, we fucking top him instead (DOH!), then Iraq descends into sectarianism! Another fine mess we got ourselves into?

Absolutely not. Saddam was a cancer that needed to be excised.
We screwed up the reconstitution of Iraq in a number of ways but removing Saddam and his boys was the right thing to do period.
No! Disagree The world needs to be rid of dictators! How the hell do you go from wanting what is good for humanity to advocating for keeping the status quo? The part you are confused about is whether or not we should have gone into Iraq that created the power vacuum that followed the invasion. Not the same equivalency!

But look what happens when we remove them - the entire country over which they ruled with an iron fist descends into (in context) sectarian-related slaughter, bombs in crowded market-places, and utter chaos? How can you deny that a dictatorship can work for the greater good of the stable populace? I mean, take Libya, Iraq, and Afghanistan, when we, in our breathtaking arrogance, insist that ‘We know what’s best for you’ when we so obviously don’t know what’s best for them?
Well that is why when removing a dictator there has to be a plan in place that insures a vacuous situation doesn’t occur. The problem with Iraq having been there and having in been involved in the politics that oversaw our occupation, the players behind the entire fiasco had ill gotten intentions that involved greed, and Haliburton was the primary benefactor!
I’ve always been pro-Trump, but he has become arrogant, intolerant, and authoritarian now. It’s a pity, because at first he was certainly an improvement on all recent POTUSs.
Let’s face it - we made an utter dogs’ dinner of Iraq by over-staying our welcome. The time to leave was when that gigantic statue of Saddam was toppled, but instead we stayed on, and, as shown in Bitter Lake with Afghanistan, we were given the run-around by all of the various factions, thereby earning the contempt and derision of the populaces because of our stupidity, naivete, and gullibility. They don’t think nor rationalise like we do, and ne’er the twain shall meet. For god’s sake watch Bitter Lake and learn from it??
