When I feel that he is correctāor that he has been unfairly criticizedāI do, indeed, come to his defense.
But he is a populist (more precisely, a conservative populist); and I am not a populist.
His demeanor is crude, coarse, arrogant, bullyingāand often rude.
But I very much like his selections for the federal courts (including, of course, the Supreme Court).
And I also like most of his policy decisions.
And I vote according to policies (and federal-court selections)ānot according to personality.

I completely disagree with you and the evangelical that thinks morality and character can be ignored in deference to policy. Acceptance of Donald Trumpās nasty demeanor has done lasting damage to the office of the presidency and American politics going forward, as he has lowered the floor on that far below the dignity of the officeā¦
I think you have just confirmed my strong suspicion: Joe Biden really did not receive many pro-Biden votes on November 3; he simply was the recipient of many anti-Trump votes.
And the view that personality (or even character) should be seen as superior to policy decisions, is downright bizarre, it seems to me.
As an example: Jimmy Carter had a sparkling personality; yet I believe he was among the worst presidents within my lifetime.
