Holy shit! Seriously? Those Israelis sure know how to yell out in pain and they strike you. Amazing.
Edit - when you say “we” I was thinking you meant America. I forgot you are Israeli. Yes, Israel was responsible for the death and injury of American sailors aboard the USS Liberty.
It’s not changing the subject. It is putting the subject in context. Thonking people discuss a topic by doing more than simply repeating by rote the basic events. They compare and contrast. That provides a context. For example… the context of allied deaths that are unexplained.
It’s not as though FF incidents are rare much less unheard of. A fairly comprehensive list here:
Suddenly though if the Israelis are involved it has to be some vast conspiracy.
There’s actually more evidence to suggest Johnson was behind it if there was any malicious intent considering his green lighting of other false flag incidents to get us into a war.
Look at the level of shilling and deflecting taking place in this thread. Let me bring this right back on track boys. I think the rabbis are starting to sweat. That’s a good thing, you should earn your shekels per post.
"We were getting the translations in real-time’ - speaking of the air-to-air and air-to-ground communications taking place between the pilots and C&C (command and control) on the ground in Israel.
"They knew it was an American ship. We heard it with our own ears, several times. The story they have told for the last 40 years about the Liberty being mistaken for another ship is complete bull"
—Capt. Richard Block, Commander of the 6931st Security Group of the USAF Security Services stationed on the island of Crete during USS Liberty incident.
In interviewing other survivors of the USS Liberty, AFP has learned that some 15 years after the attack, an Israeli pilot approached some of the servicemen (as well as former Congressman Paul N. (Pete) McCloskey) and revealed to them that as the lead pilot in the attack that day he recognized the Liberty as American and informed his headquarters. Nevertheless, he was told to ignore the American flag and continue his attack. As a result of his refusal to do so he was immediately arrested after returning to base. Backing up his damning statements are those of former U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Dwight Porter who has also stated publicly that the Israeli pilot’s radio transmission was heard by US monitors in the U.S. Embassy in Lebanon.
Like others who were material witnesses to the act of war that took place that day, Capt. Block was told in crystal clear terms that he was to keep his mouth shut concerning what he saw and heard. Shortly thereafter, individuals unknown to him showed up at his post, gathered up any documentation dealing with the Israeli intercepts and hauled them away to be destroyed.
I read the JCS ordered Admiral McCain to pull the ship out 100 miles and he didn’t forward the order.
And these morons here think that friendly fire means only that the guy pulling the trigger is the one who is making the mistake. Anywhere up and along the chain of command, that mistake can be made, whether due to bad judgement, bad communication, bad Intel, whatever.
And all this in the context of Israel surrounded by enemies and fighting for its very existence in the 6 day war.
You and I both know these wankers will never look beyond their hatred… a ridiculous hatred that really has no justification.
The wankers wonder why we defend Israel. I dont know about you but I have three reasons : 1) my spiritual beliefs that recognize Israel as special in the eyes of God, and 2) Israel is a democracy and an ally; and 3 ) just plain ole respect for an incredibly superb fighting force in the midst of enemies… especially back then. (The Israelis performance in the chaotic and hellish tank battles in the Yom Kippur war brings up within me the same sense of the ‘victory of right over wrong’ that DDay does)
Exactly, they will take anything and try to lie, twist, manipulate, totally misrepresent it in order to drive wedges between the US and Israel based purely on their own insipid hatred.
I guess neither of you read my post. Are the sources that are cited within my post not credible? The level of on-topic citations that you shekel posters have provided is slim to none.
As most of you know, the attack by Israel on the USS Liberty happened on June 8, 1967. It happened during what is known as the Six Day War, a war Israel started. It’s important to know that Israel initiated that war on it’s neighbors by engaging in a sneak attack on Egyptian forces (Ever notice how ■■■■ always reverse reality? Oh, probably not). Most people will tell you that the Arabs attacked Israel, though the reverse is blatantly evident.
At 7:45 AM on 5 June 1967, Israel attacked Egypt and thereby Jordan and Syria who each shared a mutual defense pact with Egypt. The attack took place just hours before Egypt’s vice president was to fly to Washington for a prearranged June 7th meeting with the Johnson administration to defuse the crisis between Egypt and Israel.
The Israeli initiated Six Day War was nothing more than a bloody, pre-emptive land grab whereby Israel seized control of the Sanai Peninsula from Egypt, the West Bank and East Jerusalem from Jordan and the Golan Heights from Syria.
In the early hours of June 5, l 967, Israel launched a war of aggression against Egypt, Jordan and Syria and occupied the West Bank, Gaza, the Golan Heights and the Sinai Peninsula. On the admission of many Israeli leaders, this war was the result of a long-planned, calculated aggression. It was undertaken in order to expand Israel’s ocupation of Arab territories and not (as falsely claimed by Israeli apologists) as a pre-emptive strike to avoid annihilation.
What fool would wait to be attacked by surrounding enemies that were sworn to annihilate him and postured to do so?
LoL… your wet dream of Israel’s annihilation would have come to pass had Israel been so stupid. Kudos to the Israelis for a preemptive attack on enemies posturing to attack them. This is why I respect the Israelis…they don’t fuck around when their survival is at stake.
In other words, Israel realized there were other witnesses to their action.
Note to wiki article above.
Several Liberty crew members testified that they had briefly seen a periscope during the attack. In 1988, the Lyndon Johnson Library declassified and released a document from the Liberty archive with the “Top Secret—Eyes Only” security caveat (Document #12C sanitized and released 21DEC88 under review case 86–199). This “Memorandum for the Record” dated 10 April 1967 reported a briefing of the “303 Committee” by General Ralph D. Steakley. According to the memo, General Steakley “briefed the committee on a sensitive DOD project known as FRONTLET 615”, which is identified in a handwritten note on the original memorandum as “submarine within U.A.R. waters”. Further Freedom of Information Act requests returned no information on any project called “FRONTLET 615”. In February 1997, a senior member of the crew of the submarine USS Amberjack told James Ennes that he had watched the attack through the periscope and took pictures. According to the official ship’s history from the Department of Defense, Amberjack 's mission between 23 April and 24 July was reconnaissance within U.A.R. waters. When contacted, four crewmen stated that they were so close to Liberty when it came under attack that some of the crew believed Amberjack itself was under depth charge attack. August Hubal, Captain of the Amberjack , insists that the vessel was 100 mi (160 km) from the Liberty and when told the crew believed they were closer replied “They must be mistaken”. On 2 July 2003, as a result of a lawsuit using the Freedom of Information Act by Joel Leyden on behalf of the Israel News Agency requesting any evidence that the U.S. submarine Amberjack had gathered by means of its periscope, the National Security Agency stated that there had been "no radio intercepts made by the U.S. submarine Amberjack ". James Ennes believes that if the submarine photography exists, it should show that the ship’s flag was clearly visible to the attacking fighters and torpedo boats.
What’s striking to me is that there are people in this thread blaming American sailors, on a defenseless and unarmed Navy ship, for getting slaughtered…all to shelter Israel from blame. It’s downright disgraceful. The amount of flak they are throwing up means we are right over the target.
Honestly, I don’t think most people even know that the Israeli attack of the USS Liberty ever happened. That should tell you something…
It should also tell you something that Ralph Nader of all people is more patriotic and supportive of the American military than these “conservative” shills…
Such a potty mouth! Why do you leftists get nasty when your feelings get hurt a little? My sweet summer child, please take a deep breath and calm down! Be a BIG boy!
The “sailors” made none of those mistakes. Admirals that were not even in the same area may have. If you want to call them “sailors” that would be a stretch.
