While the United States separated itself from the imperial system by declaring independence in 1776, slavery remained a national institution. Debates over the Constitution were conducted not on sectional lines but between federalists and anti-federalists within the two largest states, Virginia and New York. Fear of Virginian dominance was as much an issue for people in the Carolinas and Georgia as it was for people north of the Potomac. The Constitution itself reflected a profound ambiguity that supported slavery indirectly, it neither explicitly guaranteed the institution of slaveryâs protection nor abolished it. Gradually, slavery did become sectional in a legal sense with northern states abolishing it over time, starting with Vermont in 1777 and Massachusetts in 1781. Yet these dates can be misleading because emancipation did not necessarily mean immediate freedom for formerly enslaved people. States passed legislation that effectively protracted the process of emancipation by means of apprenticeships. For example, New York passed a Gradual Emancipation Act that freed enslaved children born after July 4, 1799, but indentured them until they were young adults. As a result of such legislation, slavery lingered up to twenty-five years after it had been formally abolished in some states. For example, in New Jersey there were still eighteen enslaved people in 1860, although officially termed âapprentices for life.â
Until the Civil War, it was southerners who championed federal institutions, military establishments, an aggressive foreign policy, and expected the federal government to support slavery, especially with the enforcement of the Fugitive Slave Act. Finally in 1860, southern politicians demanded a constitutional amendment mandating federal protection of slavery in the western Territoriesâin their view, the necessary concession from Abraham Lincolnâs incoming Republican Administration if it wished to avoid state secession.
Slave traders were Jooish companies based in Amsterdam, not to mention the owners of slaves on the American continent.

Exactly; reflective of the necessity to include enough support for the Revolution. There is no reason to believe that slavery would have been eliminated in the colonies if no Revolution occurred.
Constitutions are basically over-all concepts, defining what the individuals laws should look like.
Some âdemocraticâ countries donât have any constitution.
And many that have as good a Constitution as ours are missing the Bill of Rights which renders them toothless.
I suppose a constition is a statement of ideals â what the government should do and shouldnât do.
Just like ancient Greek cities, the American Republic was not meant to be a bastion of liberal values.
A propos, âliberalâ in some English-speaking countries (Australia for one) means âconservative.â
Yeah, we in America see UK news and donât have any idea whoâs on first, whatâs on second, and I donât knowâs on third.
As Mark Sleboda points out here, a new conflict around Taiwan will kill the US hegemony. Or perhaps the US itself.
Is it good for the world?
I refrain from answering that question.
Can the US be saved (from itself)?
Certainly. But time is running short.
Strangely, the two-party system rules the UK, US, Canada, Australia, NZâŚ
Why?
The Hegelian dialectic works best under the two-party system. Flip flop, flip flop, flip flop⌠and the same goal is achieved.
The problem is not permanent; it is a function of Joe being on the payroll of the bad guys and heâs doing his job of dragging his feet. They didnât do these things when Trump was in charge, so we need to tough it out until Joe & Dems are thrown out. Thatâs not a fore drawn conclusion, the Dems will cheat and if the GOP doesnât stop it before the election passes, then weâre doomed and so is the rest of the world. Recognizing Palestine is silly because thatâs not what they want; they want to eliminate Israel. Yes, the Middle East is a quagmire tarbaby, but we donât have to have troops there. We can be as much of a problem for countries that donât play ball as we want, from the outside financing rebel forces and/or supporting govts under attack from the air to keep anyone busy from the inside. Their inside. Xi can be destroyed from the outside looking in, too. China canât feed itself and must trade with the world and if they donât have buyers for the stuff they build, their economy seizes up. The EU needs the US, too, so they will go along with a strong US, especially if we and they do it from armâs length and they feel like partners, NOT junior partners. With the US producing gas & oil to bring the price of oil back in line and subtract excess profits from OPEC and Russia, they wonât have the assets to waste on terrorist financing. WWIII can and should be an economic event, last a long time, and be led by a strong western alliance to the great pain & suffering of any country that doesnât play ball.
The critics of our policy, such as presented here are critics of Dems and Biden and Obama. Changing that changes everything. The Dems & Biden/Obama wrong headed people are NOT the US.
Itâs not as bad as it seems. Muslims have lived peacefully with Joos and Christians for centuries, be it in Palestine or Turkey. You only need to watch and see to it that Joos do not take control of the government; then a tragedy follows, as we witnessed in Turkey and Russia in the early part of the 20th century. Millions of Christians (Armenians) were massacred in eastern Turkey, and 66 million Orthodox Christians were massacred under Lenin and Stalin.
Absolutely correct. China is overpopulated. Japan, on the other hand, also has the same problem. Too little food production, so much so that it has to import a large proportion of food the population consumes, especially wheat, fruits and meat. A lot of arable land has been sacrificed for industry and housing. (70-80% of the country consists of mountains, not fit for any purpose other than forestry). Nonetheless, by virtue of high-tech industries, Japan manages to make ends meet.
Only a problem if you are enemies with the producers of food. In a contest of wills the US can live without electric cars, tupperware & their bullying. I say this again: The CCP (only tangentially Chinese), the Putinists (again, only tangentially the Russian people) and the leadership of damn few Islamic countries (most certainly NOT the majority of Muslim countries or people) are guilty of pushing their way into dominance in the world. Not just their rightful place; whatever that means to them and the rest of the world, but they want to replace the western powers. This IS NOT different than Hitler, et al; or Japan, communists from pole to pole, or the aggressors of all the past wars from Rome and thousands of years before them. It will result in the weakest partyâs destruction, same as always. Today, the party that looks like they are losing will go nuclear and God only knows where that ends. Hamas will be destroyed by Israel, with or without the blessing of the rest of the world. They have my blessing. There are 49 Muslim countries in the world; about 25% of the countries and population of the world, and almost all of them want nothing to do with war with the other ž of the world, and they donât want world war either. The world is in a state of flux economically, having gone thru lots of major changes from the green revolution that made it possible to feed 3 times as many people now as 1960; and many small countries that went from poor and unable to feed themselves to food exporters along with the kind of prosperity that comes from being able to apply some of their work force to production other than food. These countries are looking the climate crises progenitors who are now destroying these countries with the price of fuels and fertilizers, and they ARE noticing who is to blame.
Some number of wars have always been active in the world, forever, because there will always be jealous, greedy bullies who want your stuff. The solution has always been the same kill them before they kill you. There also will always be a few Neville Chamberlains about, and they need to be tossed into the bin before they enable the evil to get strong. A perfunctory look at the United Nations reveals that most leadership is for shit. The kinds of people who seek power over others has traditionally been the least trustworthy with other peopleâs good fortunes.
China is a big producer of food, but cannot catch up with its population.
When did the concept of âHan Chineseâ come into existence? I donât know. Maybe it is imaginery and does not exist.
The enemy of the Chinese have always been the Chinese, while their friends are their clan, family. The rest of the Chinese are enemies, or total strangers, as bad as Americans, Japanese or Brits.
Empires and dictators in the east and in the west came and went. The Roman empire did leave its marks but thereâs nothing to see today, except the Vatican. Britainâs glory is no more. Pax Americana is a thing of the past.
What part of humanity survives?
His thought, ideaology, and faith.
Nationalistic fervor and economic prosperity will fade away but human idealism will survive.
What is communism? Is it an economic model? More than that. It is an ideology born of a satanic mind in Karl Marx.
Look no farther than home , the USA .
I know where that comment comes from. Itâs word-for-word in the dictionary for Cheap Shot. Below your standards and you should hang your head in shame. There is NO country in the world that doesnât have such people vying for power and position.
The Founders of the USA sought to preclude the success of power seekers here, and took years arguing about this and that restraint to shortcut the attempts to beat the system, but our greatest insurance; dividing power among 3 so-called equal branches is in reality, toothless in the face of a Party the holds at least one branch of the legislature and the Presidency.
We are watching all the sound and fury of indignant Senators and Congressman who keep telling us that they will bring out the truth and hold culprits accountable. It means absolutely nothing. Holding an Officer of the govt in contempt is an exercise in futility. Unless the party doing so also holds the Office of Attorney General all that happens is press conferences. Garland will be the 2nd Dem administration in a row where the AG refuses documents to Congress. Does Eric Holder give a shit what Congress wants? Or Merritt Garland, Alejandro Mayorkas, et al? They donât actually spit at Congress, but if they did, what could be done about it? Nothing.
Trump was stopped by several court orders during his time, - lower court orders; but the court orders from the SCOTUS are unenforceable on Joe, as are the demands of the two branches of the legislature. Itâs time for an Amendment or Con-Con in which all three branches are subject to the orders of a single other branch and the myriad law enforcement agencies must be enforcers of all the orders and all the laws as written, NOT just as favored by the executive branch in any given moment. The concept of an executive branch having all the authority, alone, depends upon the honesty of the people in govt, and we know that doesnât work. The executive branch right now enforces orders against anyone it wishes and at the same time forbids enforcement of orders against it. Thatâs not just lawless; thatâs against the law.
None of this is unaffected by the lack of media to be an honest broker. They are as lacking as the politicians in office. The people; as in Of, By & For the People of the USA are left as no better than flies on the wall, only allowed to buzz nosily or cling to the walls, watching; listening; para nada.
Thatâs what Executive Orders do. How many such orders did Biden sign on his first day?
I suppose they can be rendered null and void if the Election 2020 was proven fake, and Obama an illegal President (Born in Kenya or Indonesia).
The American Foundig Fathers in the 18th century did not imagine the destructive role the mainstream news would play later. Newspapers in the 19th century were bad enough. TV in the 20th century was an absolute disaster.
The citizens in the Soviet Union knew. There were basically two news sources then: Pravda (by the Communist Party, meaning âtruthâ) and Izvestia (by the Soviet government, meaning ânewsâ).
The joke Russians told among themselves went like this:
Whatâs the difference between Pravda and Izvestia?
The Pravda has no izvestia (no news) and the Izvestia has no pravda (no truth).
That doesnât matter. The child of an American citizen is an American citizen. Only an adult (of voting age) may renounce their citizenship. No one else may do it for them.
If his mother had renounced her own citizenship then itâs up in the air. In that case the child could later petition to rescind that and it may or may not be rescinded.
She probably did, but not officially. It is done officially by surrendering American citizenship and requesting to become a citizen of another country, like Kenya or Indonesia, in which case they would have notified the US Customs and passed her passport on to them.
Well then, why fake the birth certificate from Hawaii?
I think different conditions apply if somebody wants to be President.
More importantly, dual citizens like Rahm Emanuel should be barred from political positions, including in the Senate and Congress.
I agree; duel citizens do not have allegiance to the US.
I agree the birth certificate is from whole cloth, and I wonder why. Mom was probably on the muscle at birth time and didnât want baby barry to be American, and later Grannie thought better and unfucked the situation after Mom bought the farm. That screwed up the numbering system of the hospital records and she had to improvise and hoped nobody would ever look. Somewhere, thereâs a dead guy with barryâs SSN but a different prefix. Since the first 3 numbers meant something different in the early days of issue (each state had one 3 digit #) and that was dropped sometime after his birth date, only someone with time on their hands could figure it out, or not. I donât know the new prefix numbering system as changed, so I have no idea if that makes it an infinite (300)Âł?, or what. Anyway itâs not legit. I think using Dadâs # would have worked better because anyone who looked it up would just become confused, and probably abandoned further inquiry because Dad was out of the country(and not contributing), but the name was similar enough to make someone think there was just a clerical error in the system (as in a change in translation/spelling from Barack to Barry, Americanizing it). It most certainly would have been opening a can of worms asking for a SSN for an interracial child with no US birth Certificate and a Foreign father not available and a dead American Mom. I can just see the look on the face of a govt clerk asked for such a thing; wheels spinning in her head and not knowing what documentation to ask for, and wanting to just shake her head, âOh! No-o-o-oâŚ
In retrospect, maybe she did do the right thing at the time? After all, what was the likelihood he would run for President?
