I joined y’day. I’m a Brit living on the south coast of England. I love my country and America but loathe our rulers for what they’re doing to us in their stupidity and incompetence. I hate bullying with a passion, and that’s what I see the governing classes of our countries doing now - forcing their will on all other countries on the planet by threats and sanctions until they do as we tell them, because ‘we know what’s best for you.’ We DON’T know what’s best for them - we don’t even know what’s best for ourselves.
We’re fucking up in Syria right now; here’s Assad and Russia trying to destroy our common enemy, and here’s us trying to stop them from doing it?? How effing stupid is that?
Uh no! We are there fighting Isis and our forces along with Kurdish forces! Our footprint there currently has been reduced quietly while handing over operations to the Kurds!
I’m pushed for time now but we’re doing nothing about IS except taking prisoners then wondering what to do with them, such as send them back to their home countries; trouble is we don’t know what their home countries are because they won’t tell us. Assad and Russia have no such dilemma - they just get rid of them . . . which is really what IS expects them to do. They laugh at us and our ‘human rights’?
I think you are over generalising here on what you are reading on the internet to form such opinions.

If they screwed up so badly how is it ISIS was so quickly defeated once Trump took the handcuffs off of the commanders and gave them the resources they needed to mop it all up?

The Kurds are the single largest ground force operating against ISIS. Do you think the Kurds have any qualms at all about killing them?

You don’t seriously believe IS is defeated do you? They’re like the Taliban in Afghanistan - when they come under pressure they simply melt away into the civilian community, then come out again when the heat is off. I keep saying . . . they’re much smarter than we are. Additionally they’re (Islamic State) hanging around in every country on the planet waiting for the word ‘Go!’, and carrying out a few atrocities to while away the time until then.
The “Islamic State” has been destroyed. They no longer hold enough territory to be anything but another terrorist group and no longer have the resources to fund a large world wide terror campaign.
What they mostly have left is a handful of zealots who will occasionally launch minor attacks and that’s about it.

With Turkeys recent purchase of Russian Air Defense weapons betraying the U.S. we should increase our military support of the Kurds and help them establish an autonomous country. They have proven to be very effective fighters against ISIS.
Turkey has been a very poor ally at best since 9-11. We need to find a way to keep them from going completely into the Russian camp but we need to send a strong message.
We should have helped the Kurds establish an independent state in 2004 as they’ve been promised again and again since WWI.
Have you got a link to a credible source on the removal of US nukes from Turkey?

No that would probably be way too big of a story to keep from leaking an announcing it formally would have sent a huge message to Erdogon and the Islamists that we no longer have their back with our Nuclear Umbrella.
