Were they smarter?
Unlike the image you see, the Neanderthals did not have high cheek bones (like those of some Asians) but had high nasal bridges. Given the weather conditions in glacial Europe, their skin was probably very light with possibly blue/grey eyes. They were very successful hunters/gatherers who were around much longer than Homo sapiens. Their cooking method included heating of a stone and dropping it in water with whatever ingredients to make it boil. This method was still practiced among some “primitive” tribes in the 20th century.
