People who are doing violent crimes aren’t doing so because they tend to carefully think things through. Just like most criminals of any sort don’t go somewhere far from home to do their stuff but foul their own nests / prey on their own neighbors / whoever is at hand.

Yes, but if you make the penalty the same (or worse, as some here have suggested) as for murder, you must be willing to accept that there very likely will be more dead rape victims.

Make rape a death penalty offense and odds are very strong more victims will be murdered to reduce the risk of being caught and prosecuted.

There is no perfect solution , all solutions have unintended consequences
If we jail them for life, they live comfortably in a prison and housed in units to protect them from the general population
If we kill them then some will kill their victims, that I dont buy but it can happen.

I think Congress needs to change the law regarding rapes and pedophilia
Unless they are committed on federal land/federal installations they are state crimes.
The only time the fed’s get involved otherwise is if you are transporting the victims across state lines or in the case of pedophiles transmitting video/images interstate or to/from other countries or mailing them via the US mail.
Rape unfortunately really isn’t treated as the serious life altering violent crime it is.
No woman every gets over a violent rape and most won’t ever really get over even a “date rape” where they are drugged/or plied with copious amounts of alcohol and taken advantage of.
Children of course are scarred for life emotionally no matter the circumstances.
Lifers still go into gen pop regardless of their crimes.
Well, you can rest easy knowing that you are very unlikely to be a rape victim to test your theory that the death penalty for rape won’t result in your murder.
