Trump to declare emergency over wall

So current border security is working? Is that what you are showing?

So then trump saw a national emergency for two years and did nothing about it and you are happy?

Also, Pelosi is correct. What can’t be declared an emergency?

I live in an incredibly , annoyingly liberal town…I don’t know single person who thinks that way.

It’s a party thing not individual thing.

Must democrats want a secure border, few democrats in congress are concerned.

sorry, I don’t follow…you think the people elating democrats want a secure border, but the people they elect don’t?

And Pelosi is the major roadblock.

Seems Pelosi is at the heart of not properly funding enough judges to ensure quick return of illegals. Seems it was Pelosi who wants to reduce the number of people held from 47K to 40K, she would be a national emergency. People walk across the border unimpeded, seems a barrier/wall should at least slow the flow of illegals. Seems to work other places in the world.

Do you advocate doing nothing???

Congress passed the [National Emergencies Act] in 1976. The Act consolidated a hodgepodge of Congressionally-authorized presidential powers, while not specifically intruding into executive authority. Mostly, it’s a way to keep track of the myriad emergencies declared by various presidents, giving Congress a tool to count them and determine which ones are still in effect.

There are 31 Presidential Emergency Orders still in effect according to the Brennan Center. (I had no idea we had so many world-endangering emergencies.) They range from Jimmy Carter’s order blocking Iranian government property in 1979, to “Blocking Property of Certain Persons Contribut- ing to the Situation in Nicaragua” issued by President Trump in November 2018.

One of these emergencies was declared by Bill Clinton in 1995. It’s titled “Blocking Assets and Prohibiting Transactions With Significant Narcotics Traffickers.” Of particular interest is Section 4.

Sec. 4. The Secretary of the Treasury, in consultation with the Attorney General and the Secretary of State, is hereby authorized to take such actions, including the promulgation of rules and regulations, and to employ all powers granted to the President by IEEPA as may be necessary to carry out this order. The Secretary of the Treasury may redelegate any of these functions to other officers and agencies of the United States Government. All agencies of the United States Government are hereby directed to take all appropriate measures within their authority to carry out this order.

The IEEPA refers to the “International Emergency Economic Powers Act” which is supported by 50 U.S. Code § 1702. Presidential authorities.

There are currently 31 active declared national emergencies over things that don’t threaten a single American life or make crime victims of Americans.

He not only can do this he can most certainly justify it to the SCOTUS.

There may be a language in which this post would make sense but it isn’t English.

How many appropriate money?

What is Sphincter of The House Nancy Pelosi’s take on Trump declaring a national emergency at the border? She says the next Democrat president will use a national emergency to force gun control down everyone’s throat. They already tried to do that with operation Fast and Furious. But it backfired badly on them. That’s what Fast and Furious was all about, a staged national emergency to grab everyone’s guns.

He’s not appropriating money. Catch a clue somewhere and hang on for dear life.

How many of those 31 national emergencies involve appropriating or REappropriating funds?

Or forget the word “appropriate”… how many involve additional funding?

People have forgotten how terrible the Omnibus Bill Trump signed was. He vowed “never again” after that, remember? Yet here we are again. It’s not a shocker he’ll sign it.

There is no appropriation, misappropriation, reappropriation of, or additional funding any kind.

The money has already been allotted and appropriated but as we’ve discussed ad nauseam for whatever reason went unspent.

If you can’t remember what’s already been explained again and again go bother someone else.

The federal gov’t cant produce a single piece of code or paper, turn on a light switch, or make a phone call without spending money.

Well except for the fact that this is not that.

You have a hard time answering questions…

Of those 31 national emergencies… how many required funding?

Does the president have the power to spend money on something that congress didn’t allow?

What part of the federal gov’t can’t do anything that doesn’t require funding is it you can’t grasp?

Yes, the president has access to funds he can use under an emergency declaration as well as “swept funds” from the budget as we have already discussed.

Again if you can’t remember what’s already been discussed on a given subject over the last few days go bother someone else.

She made the campaign slogan for every Democrat Presidential candidate forever:

We ARE coming to ban your guns!

So congress can appropriate funds to a specific area and the president can redirect those funds to anywhere he sees fit? So long as it is an emergency?

Where in the consititution is that language?
