Following our recent exchange along the lines of “how big is a nuclear bomb?” I did some digging.
There are tactical weapons in the sub-kiloton arena. These range from around .01kt iirc (ten tons of TNT equivalent), can be fired from a heavy artillery piece, intended for targets 2 or 3 kilometers distant, discharge a massive radiation pulse which kills everybody nearby within seconds.
A nuclear weapon was not used in Beirut. There would have been no local survivors, the death toll would have been measured in thousands, possibly tens of thousands.
That video is pretty convincing vis-a-vis the deliberate detonation of the stored fertiliser.
