Who pays for that kind of rescue? Here in the US, if an accident victim gets a helicopter flight ti a hospital, he/she also gets a bill to pay.
We all have winter sports insurance on top of travel insurance. It’s really cheap, about £80 a year for a family. The winter sports insurance covers everything.
Even if you have to pay for treatment yourself in Europe, it is a lot cheaper than in the US.
Edit: at home all ambulances including air ambulances are covered by the NHS. No one ever gets a bill.
