I acknowledged that in post #6789 above. The volume of water that flows into the dead sea is not enough to dilute the salinity. It likely all evaporates because the water level is relatively constant.

Yes, I saw your comment after I posted.
It’s an amazing place, well worth a visit, although it’s a pain in the tail to think your visit will benefit the government there.

I tasted the water as I floated. It’s not salty but very bitter.

On the other hand, if you try to float with the face down, you could get drowned because you can’t keep your face above water as the body gets the buoyancy force. This exercise is not recommended anyway, as the water can get in your eyes.

Sorry, perhaps a little misleading in context, I just meant they are not 197, 198, 199kg.
The 750’s are in the 165 kg region and depending on who’s reviewing around 150bhp and can (in the form of the K5 gsxr750 that I am now looking for) be as quick on paper as the 1000 cc’s.

The 2013 bmw rr was around 193hp and 183kg.

The figures are relatively academic as they are all pretty similar in terms of performance on the road. 0-160 kph in under 6 seconds and 300kph top speeds (on the autobahns obviously).
It is why I like them all :relaxed::relaxed:

I would really like to see Norton grow again, especially as we become (if we become) independant from Europe again.

That maybe so, but you don’t support the ‘‘wrong’’ sort of voting do you.

Settlements only exist because ■■■■ and Palestinians in the West Bank live under a different law. ■■■■ are Israeli citizens: They can vote for the government that controls every square inch of the West Bank. Palestinians are Israeli subjects: Permanently barred because of their ethnicity and religion from citizenship in the country in which they live. (Yes, Palestinians have at times voted for the Palestinian Authority. But the PA is not a government; it is Israel’s subcontractor. PA officials — like all West Bank Palestinians — need Israeli permission to travel from one part of the West Bank to another).

There’s a Russian joke that goes like this.

Doctor: Do you drink?
Patient: Yes, when there’s something to celebrate.
Doctor: On what occasion?
Patient: To celebrate that there’s something to drink in the house.

If this was / is reality ! by exercising and increasing the strength of your heart it will beat slower at rest.

If you take a heartbeat of say 67bpm for a person who notionally lives to 77 this would mean their heart would beat 2711570400 ( I have assumed a constant 67 obviously from birth to death)
If you reduced your heartrate by strengthening it through exercise by 10 bpm for a life time you would have 90.5 years to live

I think at 45bpm @Jen you will have to live until you are 114 years old wether you want to or not

For every kg of fat, there are 11km of capillaries. Fat means insulin resistant (usually). Excess insulin cannibalises organs, including the heart and brain, and muscles, to turn to fat. Muscles burn energy, fat does not. So lack of exercise cause at least a triple whammy of a weaker heart, a lot more stress of the extra load and loss of muscle. Fat also produces lots of oestrogen, so men get moobs and women get neurotic. Shall I go on?

The heart is also a muscle. There is a lot of benefit to strengthening that vital muscle along with all of the numerous benefits exercise produces.

I used to be a runner and had to have knee surgery which killed my ability to do any real exercise. My heart rate was so low the surgeon joked with me that I was considered clinically dead. That was many years ago and I ran, biked, rowed and swam because I liked it and the way it made me feel. Not much was discussed about the health benefits at that time but I knew from personal experience what they were for me.

I very much like the knowledge you consistently share, Jen. You are able to delve into things not on a surface level but well into all branches, how they work, how they function and interact with each other.

That’s what I use. I just call all internet searching “googling” out of habit…better than saying, “…you’re good at ducking.”

If you state the same at your next party and others ask, “Where did you hear that?”
What are you going to tell them?
“I heard it from Jack Nicholson in Easy Rider”?

That’s what “hidden in plain sight” is all about.

I appreciate this statement as I too started running distance for this very reason. It wasn’t just the good feeling of the exercise but I saw the day clearer / brighter.
Once I had got past the shock of the actual running I started thinking deeper during my runs and rationalising various problems that I had at the time.
I too had to stop running this year, so replaced it with training in the gym. I have just started having a similar good feeling about my workouts.
I hope you have been able to find a replacement for yours

What a great post, @robgsxr

From your heart and honest.

The only way I could ever explain running/exercising was like taking a car on the interstate, flooring it and blowing all of the junk out so it ran clean.

No, my friend. I never have. Not for lack of tying but that my knee blows up like a balloon and the pain after my endeavors just isn’t worth it.

But I am happy for those who can. I completely get it. As long as you can? Keep going for it. Never take what you are capable of for granted and simply enjoy.

When you run, your heart pumps faster and you get the extra oxygen in your body and to your brain.
Exercise is one of the best and most accessible ways to increase brain blood flow and circulation.

Research shows that moderate exercise increases blood flow to the brain by as much as 15% (1).

And you don’t even need to work out intensely to increase blood flow to your brain.

Simply walking for 30 minutes at a brisk pace, three or four times each week, is good enough to get more blood and oxygen to your brain and reap the benefits (2).

In fact, the foot’s impact on the ground while walking sends pressure waves through the arteries, which sends more blood and oxygen to the brain (3).
