California is a shithole. San Francisco has “poop maps” to warn the tourist where they will encounter shit and piss in the streets and on the sidewalks. Rather than clean this up and do something about the ‘squatters’, the city rulers just put out a map. The rich people have their gated communities and guards to keep the bums out so they don’t give a shit about the rest of the city.
Several of the big liberal cities in the US are turning into ghettos, with boarded up buildings, houses that should have been demolished decades ago, drug infestations, gangs controlling neighborhoods and cops that won’t respond to certain areas without using armored vehicles and swat teams.
We’re not as bad as some parts of Europe (Sweden) yet, but making progress in that direction.

That’s not to say that there aren’t any areas that are clean and well run. Most of them are in smaller towns…all over the nation.
I do think that Rania Khalek should move her ass over here and take an extended tour of the US before condemning the entire country.
I can likely find similar conditions in spots in most of the countries on earth.
I don’t think the writer was condemning the whole country, just parts. Yes, of course there are shit holes everywhere, but we’re talking about raw sewage - that is a different league. That is what I found most shocking.
Not really. We have Conservative councils which don’t seem to give a shit and do little to clean the streets or pick up rubbish. Ironically, in France they clean the streets everyday. They have cleaning trucks go through the towns spraying water and detergent which scrub the roads too.
The writer seems to be embellishing stories she was told by some UN touring group looking for poverty stricken areas. She makes if look as if all of Loundes County Alabama is floating in sewerage…likely not so.
She mentioned Georgia but didn’t expand on it. I live in Georgia and have not heard of any such rancid conditions anywhere in the state. We do have areas where poverty exists in entire neighborhoods, but I know of no open sewer situations.
My home is 19 miles from the center of Atlanta in a rural area near a small city (Stockbridge) and we have no such conditions that I know of.
Again, the writer should get off her ass and come see for herself rather than listen to a bunch of goddamned UN fucksticks.
The writer lives in the Middle East. The last time I was there (Afghanistan), their toilets were holes in the floor that people shit at…then wiped their asses with their bare hands.

Perhaps you could also champion freedom of other countries to make their own laws and not go around arresting ppl who don’t live in America and shouldn’t be subject to American law but you feel justified arresting them anyway.
