The Rabbit Hole

The First Law of Thermodynamics refers specifically to heat. There are many forms of energy and the Law of Conservation of Energy encompasses them all. It means that energy cannot be created or destroyed, only transferred from one form to another. This holds true for everything across the Universe.

Atoms are held together by immense energy. Imagine each atom the size of a football pitch. The nucleus would be a tennis ball in the centre and the electrons whizzing around the outside are peas. So you and everything else are mostly empty space. What if you collapsed all that space? That is what happens when a neutron star is formed. A teaspoon amount of neutron star would weigh a billion tonnes.

I don’t think the Koran specifies the gender of the virgins so they are probably meeting each other. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

So long as there is mass, there is energy. E=mc(squared). Speed of light is a constant.

I’m sorry to hear that.

I will share with you something I rarely share:

My brother was killed in a car accident. Shortly after I made my way to his bedroom when I had a moment of peace and quiet from the hysteria weighing in around me.

There was a window that looked out onto the fields. Nothing special. But, I went to my knees and I gave thanks to God with every fiber of my being to say thank you for all of the moments, for all of the memories for all that my brother meant to me. And I meant it. From the bottom of my heart. No expectations. Just… thank you.

I received without any expectation, an overwhelming feeling “knowing” of peace that cannot ever be explained in any words known to mankind. There were and are no words. There was just communication to the spirit and a promise that was made: which was I will never feel the pain of the loss, I will only feel the spirit of what was given.

And God has fulfilled that promise day in and day out. If I were not already on my knees I would have fallen to them.

I think God reaches us on our own levels that we are capable of receiving. In spite of that great gift? I don’t always wake up smiling. I worry and fret quite a bit. So, perhaps your gift is to see the beauty in this world each day?

I think the more spiritually evolved you are the more life is hell when you stray from knowing what deep inside of you… is the right thing to do.

The right thing to do is oftentimes the more difficult path. Or so it would seem at the beginning of the path.

However, doing the right thing in the end, is oftentimes the most rewarding path.

@ Jen because I reached my three reply limit

OMG, Jen… I think that is the funniest thing I’ve read. I literally am wiping tears and trying to catch my breath from laughing so hard. You ROCK, lady!

Edit to add: @AlexC I just know you can make a visual for this! :joy:

I don’t know. That sounds seriously depressed.

There is way too much in life each day to find joy in. The key word is finding joy in. It takes just as much effort to find joy as it does to find crap to revel in.

Diane,
I don’t have a problem with anything you say - except the God bit.
But maybe not even that - If there is a ‘‘God’’ I don’t think it is a person - more of a consciousness(in all of us) which we can connect with and which manifests itself in our actions.
I think that is what Jesus was trying to tell us.

Not depressed - just realistic.
If your life is one of continuous unremitting pain with no way out - then death is indeed a welcome relief.
If you were a Palestinian(living in Palestine) maybe death is also a rational choice.
The bible teaches us abt heaven and hell - well maybe heaven is where we all go after we shuffle off this mortal coil.
There seem to be only two options after we die - we either go into a peaceful sleep forever and everything really does come to an end - or - there is life after death and we need to make our peace with the world before we go.
Personally, ‘I don’t know’ so I’m covering both options.

And who is to say suicide is a mortal sin - the church does - maybe the church knows what ‘‘really happens’’ after death and maybe it ain’t so bad after all?
They certainly need us to stay alive and keep paying for their forgiveness.
Isn’t that a ‘‘conflict of interest’’ maybe?

Agreed fully but I don’t have a problem seeing into the distant future to a time when mass is no more. The vastness of space allowed the universe (s) to form. If the space wasn’t there first the objects of mass could not have formed !
At some time prior to the formation of all of the elements there was just void. This is why I laugh at us humans continuing to answer the easy questions with the mathematical laws. No disrespect to all of the great minds who have given us the books filled with mathematical constants and universal laws but until someone answers where the void came from in the first place we are just exposing the “low hanging fruit”

Thanks for sharing Diane, sorry for your loss.

I don’t feel I have missed out as maybe there is nothing else for me to experience than what I already have.

I have had numerous strange events take place that I could associate with some form of spiritual enlightenment I just haven’t interpretted them in that sense. If something else is waiting to be revealed to me I assume it will come at the appropriate time in my life :relaxed:

How do you know?

How do you know that will be? Why will it be?

The thing is with “mathematical laws” is that over and over they are proven correct. How did Einstein know without the array of technology we have today? I have no idea, but we are discovering new worlds and his laws vehemently apply. Everything we send up into space, even a satellite, we use Einstein’s laws. Without his theories, we would not be able to leave Earth successfully or come back.

I feel this country has turned a corner with Boris. Obviously the Remoaners are getting more desperate and deranged by the day, but common sense is shining through.

Could Trump do something similar to prorogueing Parliament and shut down Congress to push through the wall? I don’t know. I know some Yanks, namely Dr Manshe, sneers at our monarchy telling us we are subjects and not citizens, but it is because of the Queen that I think Brexit will happen. The government is Her Majesty’s Government. The Queen is above them all. Thank goodness. Frightening thought that the alternative could be President Blair or even President Corbyn.

I know about the void because it is here now along with the elements. Without the void there was nowhere for the elements to form into.
I can only live in my house because the house has been built on a plot of land. If lthe plot wasn’t there my house wouldn’t be either. Not the best analogy but it is the same principle.

How do you know that will be? Why will it be?

Because nothing is permanent. It is only due to our limited minds (thinking in human time frames) that we cannot imagine trillions of years passing during which time everything reverts to zero.

I have the greatest respect for the “mathematical laws” using them in engineering all of my working life. But all we have done is uncovered them and assembled them in books for later use.

The laws were and are, already in existence irrespective of humans finding them and they have been forever, even the ones we still haven’t discovered. Unfortunately as I say often, us humans are pretty limited in our thinking so it has taken many more generations than necessary to get to even where we are right now. And who knows in terms of technological advancement this might just be just the tip of the iceberg.

No, but he did a great workaround Congress, claimed some money in a defense fund that was unused. A nobody liberal judge told him he couldn’t do it. To the Supreme Court it went and the libbie judge got spanked. Now, the wall is underway

That is true, especially for people with untreated mental health issues. I am speaking more about the type of people who look at the glass half empty rather than half full.

Again this contradicts the Law of Conservation of Energy. Things don’t appear out of nothing. Energy existed in some form. Conversely it will not disappear, only transform.

The void you talk about is space. Trillions of years you talk about is time. Space time is relative, warped by gravitational pulls (mass, energy). In a black hole there is no time. Time is a man made concept to connect the passing of events. Speed is only relative to another object you may consider “stationary.” But what is stationary? If there is no speed there is no time.

It’s funny isn’t it that the libs run to the courts every time they disagree with something and use their money to perverse the system, all the while crying foul. The courts are there to uphold the existing law, not make it. It is even funnier here because the courts are Her Majesty’s Courts and the Queen has given approval for the Government to prorogue Parliament. For goodness sake, around the time, Parliament is prorogued anyway, for the party conferences and there is only an extra week added on. These libs are whining about democracy being killed! Democracy when it suits them, when they have infiltrated Parliament by lying to the electorate, because they certainly do not represent the people, are now moaning the lack of Parliamentary democracy!
