The Rabbit Hole

It was a rhetorical question, though I didn’t make it obvious. I wonder how the millions in your country feel, who have poor health and in need of medical care and surviving on the bones of their arse, that your government chooses to bomb the shit out of the world, instead of taking care of them? Without your health you have nothing.

I guess they must cheat an awful lot in the US too. Is that why you have racial weighting for university entrance?

Please direct me to where @Magog has been abusive.

That’s a great track too (American Pie). I had never heard that version (S.O.S) until last night, the lyrics were not out of nowhere  Instantly I was hooked such a powerfully haunting voice, that I thought relayed the lyrics so well.

Yes similar but a touch more haunting I think. Layla is up there as one of my classics and a great version :+1: I had never heard of Disturbed until last night, the wonder of getting lost in music on youtube, it really is a great resource for music lovers.

My Grandfather on my Mother’s side was ■■■■■■■ he would not allow her to see his own parent’s or use any local shops which were largely operated by ■■■■■ His parent’s had a pawnbrokers and of course that was off limits too. As she got to her teens he explained that his parent’s and the rest of the ■■■■■■ community were not in the business of making a living, they were in the business of making other’s lives a misery. This was pre WWII, during and after. My mother had a photograph of her father as a young man wearing his kippah but she never had it on open display and as a child has no recollection of him wearing it. So it would seem he rejected the faith and his family in his early to mid 20’s, his conviction was strong to both his parents death and his own. Much of what my Mother relayed to me over the years is echoed around the net which initially surprised me as up to that point hers had been my only exposure to such information. I’ve dipped in and out of it over the years as it has never affected me personally but the words of follow the money were hit home and when I think back my Grandfather’s feeling must have been so strong as I could never imagine what would want to make me reject my own family. The plot thickens…

Nah. I’m in Canada. All we have is virtue signaling and high prices for food. :skull_and_crossbones:

Aah… did we have a conversation about this some months back?

In my house there are 4 computers (2 laptops and 2 PCs), plus a MacBook, 2 iPads and 5 smartphones … I refuse to maintain the iPads, MacBook and smartphones (except mine of course).

The PCs were upgraded along with the ‘free’ Windows-10 upgrade that was available a while back, whereafter I noticed a high level of background cpu load on my PC. After some ferkling I discovered that if I shut down one of the processes and restarted it the background load dropped to near zero when idle - the way it should be.

…then the SO started getting issues with her ancestry software, and otherwise generally complaining about system response. Unfortunately as a mere ‘user’ the difference between machine and remote server was lost upon her, so I took both machines back to W7. Also in W10 the user is no longer in control of what the Windows Update function is doing.

Anyway, after a while (must be at least 2 years now) I have morphed into a Linux user. I have one laptop and the SO’s PC still running W7, and my other laptop and PC running Linux.

There are some programs for which you might need a Windows machine, such as Photoshop and maybe CAD/CAE software, but for everything else…

Linux comes bundled with Libre Office which does word processing and runs a competent spreadsheet program (which I believe has roots in SuperCalc).
If I move from IG Markets (runs fine on Firefox) my preferred broker, Dukascopy, has an executable which runs without Java on both Windows or a Linux machine.
Best of all there is now a version of uBlock Origin for Firefox, under both Windows and Linux

Armed with your old W7 licence number and a W7 installation disk (available on eBay for pennies) you can simply replace your SSD and rebuild your W7 system. My W7 laptop is a 13-year-old Vostro which has been upgraded to a T9300 cpu and MX100 SSD. Not only that the premium brand SSDs from Samsung, Crucial and Sandisk are now incredibly cheap … unless you want Terabytes.

One of my sons has an Inspiron which is creaking under W10. I have bought a Sandisk 480Gb SSD to try to cheer it up. Will let you know how that goes when I get around to the installation.

Please excuse the interuption guys but ever the oppoutunist.:slightly_smiling_face:
Ex did you ever discover a way to see the background programs clogging up the cpu in win 10.
I am also running win 7 professional as I refused to update to the free win10 version.
However I also experience a slowdown after sometimes days of running, obviously opening and closing numerous windows (word/trading platforms/excell/ etc).
When it slows I check the task manager and see spare capacity on the cpu and spare physical memory so I am not overloading with my stuff.
I see nothing obvious like the Virus software taking over and I have updates set to manual so I decide when they run.
It’s not a major problem, I just close every applications I am running and restart those I need and it functions again normally. ( a bit like you restarting Ex)
Let’s not get into too much detail as it is not killing me but any thing useful you might have found I can check I will try out :+1:
Same for you Doc if you have experienced similar, just please be gentle guys as I like it simple :relaxed:

I wonder if this goes right back to when they used to work for the Egyptians…?

I discovered the extraneous loading in W10 because I had the sidebar showing the system resources usage, the two dials.

I can’t remember which process I restarted, I think it was something with ‘Instrumentation’ in the name. However the names have changed from W7 to W10.

That is another thing I don’t like about Windows, there is a persistent effort to obsolete your skills by changing everything just for the sake of change.

Well done switching to manual updates, I do the same with Flashplayer.
I never use sleep nor hibernate, that way the system memory is always uncluttered.
Besides it seems that ‘sleep’ is a function which wrecks your laptop battery if you don’t switch back on within hours.

I understand you could run windows 7 on a Mac so you could have mt4 charts. I read that apple’s recent upgrade won’t support w7 anymore or it will happen soon.

I wouldn’t know, I don’t think its a good idea trying to run a windows application on a MAC. I was strictly speaking of PC. My MAC is just for Graphic applications.

Thanks I will search the forums and see if instrumentation features in any of them and try to translate to w7
Same, I never turn my pc off. Obviously not to save battery as it is a mains tower, I just don’t see any benefit. The longest it has probably run continously is upto a year without having to switch off.
Let’s hope I haven’t talked up some gremlins :rofl::rofl:

My wife’s Macbook never gets switched off but gets put into a dormant mode ( close the lid ) often yet it is extremely stable.
It’s stability is one of only a tiny number of features I like about it though…

Yes we did, and taking your advice it worked out great. I am just trying to decide now on my hardware for my opensource computer. I think the fun part about PC, is building them to spec. A lot less cheaper than a MAC that is for sure!

I saw Clapton in 1975 at the Capital center in Maryland which has since been torn down. He was great. Unfortunately my seat was behind the stage so I didn’t see his face much but the acoustics were good.

Just for info Alex: I have run XM trading’s MT5 platform on a MAC without needing the windows crossover. Doc is absolutely right and it appears from many sources that say trying to run windows on a Mac is really tricky and at worst can be catastrophic.
My wife took hers into the Apple store and some numpy there attempted to install a program for converting to windows and it completely screwed her Mac. Luckily it was within warranty because they couldn’t sort it and it had to be replaced.
The MT5 platform however seems to run well although I haven’t used it in earnest just tried a few different EA’s out. I really don’t get on with the whole Mac experience :relaxed:

From the first video Nathaniel, dressed as a priest, was born ■■■■■■ but converted to Christianity.
Seems that not all ■■■■ like what the globalist elites are doing. They’re the most vocal against them although they are told to pipe down by other opportunists. So when generalizing all ■■■■■ it isn’t correct. The elitists though hide behind them while the have their own satanic sect they believe in. This hidden stuff goes back to Babylonian times.

When I was at that concert, I was a 11 year old kid who had no clue who Clapton was. It wasn’t until after that show that I grew to appreciate his music as I grew older!
