The list of COVID hypocrites grows

Rhode Island Gov. Goes Out Drinking After Telling Citizens to Stay Home

Well, add another name to the long list of Democrat hypocrites who spend their days warning their constituents to stay home and their nights violating their own lockdown restrictions. This time, it’s Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo who told the state’s citizens last week that they need to “stay home except for essential activities and wear a mask anytime you’re with people you don’t live with.”

A few days later, Raimondo was photographed out at a wine bar in Providence, with no mask in sight.

“Shame on you Gina,” local resident Susan Goodman said in an interview with ABC6 in Providence. “She shouldn’t even be at an event like that. You can drink wine at home. I’m an experienced wine drinker Gina, do it at home.”

While criticism of the governor seems well-warranted, she does have at least one defender: Erica Oliveras. She’s the woman who took the original photo without realizing the firestorm it would ignite on social media.

“She only took her mask off whenever she was drinking her wine,” Oliveras told the local news station. “That’s the only time she took it off. When she came into the building she had her mask. Whenever the waiters approached her she had a mask on. The main thing I took out of it is wow she’s here at a small business and she’s supporting. She came in, she supported she bought wine she engaged.”

Uh, we’ve lowered our standard for elected officials to the point where we have to applaud them for drinking at the local bar?

Raimondo’s spokesperson, of course, denied that the governor had done anything wrong.

“The governor had dinner at a local restaurant with her husband, and had her mask on anytime she was not eating/drinking,” said the spokesman.

Okay, fine. But we’re pretty sure that going out to a wine bar does not fall under any theory of “essential activities” in the known universe, so stop telling Rhode Island residents to stay home if you’re not going to abide by that advice yourself.

Raimondo joins the COVID Hypocrisy Hall of Shame, already bursting at the seams with names like Gov. Gavin Newsom of California, Mayor Muriel Bowser of Washington, D.C., and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, just to mention a few. It’s so easy for these Democrats to tell people to put their lives on hold (until…whenever), and so damn difficult for them to do it themselves.

We already have a hypocrite thread for that. Remember?

Interesting it didn’t come up when I created the topic.

What’s more interesting is the rules for us and the rules for them.

Why is it no one screams about the politicians and their rules vs. ours???

Really? You have a short memory! You even commented in it!

Really!

When you add a new topic it gives you similar topics if any exist.

Nothing came up.

Sorry your so sensitive and offend so easily.
