There’s nuts in both parties. Don’t be so partisan…
Says the one of the most partisan people on this site.
I hate to agree with Monte, but on this narrow point, he’s correct. I’d never heard of PNAC but those people listed are the ones I blame for getting us to take ownership of Iraq, the biggest foreign policy blunder of my lifetime and the reason the GOP became a discredited bunch of flakes and weasels by 2008. Yes, Bush was ultimately the guy who made the disastrous decision but Rumsfeld was running his own spy agency and Wolfowicz was buying all of the bogus “intelligence” for him showing buttloads of WMD. I expected guys like Cheney and Rumsfeld to keep dubya out of trouble and instead they engineered a flaming sack of shit in America’s lap in perpetuity.
However, Monte is being his usual dishonest self by saying that justifies (or excuses) the ethical bankruptcy of Pelosi and Schumer and company.
My point is he’s nothing bit partisan. His hate for the right clouds his comments as he ignores the same criminal acts by his party.
You can blame anyone you want for IRAQ but until you go to the source, the CIA, your blame may be misplaced.
Straight from the CIA:
[Key Judgements: Iraq’s Weapons of Mass Destruction Programs]
Key Judgments
Iraq’s Weapons of Mass Destruction Programs
Iraq has continued its weapons of mass destruction (WMD) programs in defiance of UN resolutions and restrictions. Baghdad has chemical and biological weapons as well as missiles with ranges in excess of UN restrictions; if left unchecked, it probably will have a nuclear weapon during this decade.
Baghdad hides large portions of Iraq’s WMD efforts. Revelations after the Gulf war starkly demonstrate the extensive efforts undertaken by Iraq to deny information.
Since inspections ended in 1998, Iraq has maintained its chemical weapons effort, energized its missile program, and invested more heavily in biological weapons; most analysts assess Iraq is reconstituting its nuclear weapons program.
- Iraq’s growing ability to sell oil illicitly increases Baghdad’s capabilities to finance WMD programs; annual earnings in cash and goods have more than quadrupled.
- Iraq largely has rebuilt missile and biological weapons facilities damaged during Operation Desert Fox and has expanded its chemical and biological infrastructure under the cover of civilian production.
- Baghdad has exceeded UN range limits of 150 km with its ballistic missiles and is working with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which allow for a more lethal means to deliver biological and, less likely, chemical warfare agents.
- Although Saddam probably does not yet have nuclear weapons or sufficient material to make any, he remains intent on acquiring them.
How quickly Iraq will obtain its first nuclear weapon depends on when it acquires sufficient weapons-grade fissile material.
-
If Baghdad acquires sufficient weapons-grade fissile material from abroad, it could make a nuclear weapon within a year.
-
Without such material from abroad, Iraq probably would not be able to make a weapon until the last half of the decade.
-
Iraq’s aggressive attempts to obtain proscribed high-strength aluminum tubes are of significant concern. All intelligence experts agree that Iraq is seeking nuclear weapons and that these tubes could be used in a centrifuge enrichment program. Most intelligence specialists assess this to be the intended use, but some believe that these tubes are probably intended for conventional weapons programs.
-
Based on tubes of the size Iraq is trying to acquire, a few tens of thousands of centrifuges would be capable of producing enough highly enriched uranium for a couple of weapons per year.
I’m not being dishonest and I don’t excuse Schumer or Pelosi for anything…
I’m not arguing that.
It’s all the Three Stooges to me. But it’s the people who are backing Trump are America-loving Patriots, who are following the American Dream, not some weird, foreign doctrine. Those trying to tear that dream down, are loser kooks.
Who had the genius intelligence that said we could take ownership of Iraq and civilize those savages?
It was guys like Cheney and Rumsfeld, a little too proud of our kickass military and not humble enough about our tolerance for futile nation-building.
OK, I’ve ranted enough about that disaster, but it still makes me angry because it’s still a smoldering sack of shit that we created. It also forced me to defend Monte, not a happy task.
A half dozen or so comments ago you insisted on quotes from Democrats as proof they were leveraging the Chinese virus pandemic to advance their agenda. Your request was promptly fulfilled. Your response has been an attempt to rehash a nearly 2 decades old conspiracy theory dredging up a narrative concocted by a so-called journalist conveniently missing supporting quotes you insisted were essential to prove Democrat motivations.
Finally you make an attempt at whataboutism with a vague complaint Republican Governors are attacking the sacred right to liquidate the unborn. If ever there was a fraudulently created “right” that deserved attacking, it has to be the legalized slaughter of millions of unborn children. Nonetheless you provide none of the quotes you insisted upon for Democrats showing this is part of an effort to advance a greater Republican agenda.
During a time when millions are deprived of so-called nonessential medical services like cancer screening and hip replacement, it’s fair to question why abortion mills are allowed to continue slaughtering the unborn without restrictions. It’s not some advancement of a Republican political agenda it’s a question of why well connected abortionists like Planned Parenthood are allowed to operate untouched while the rest of the medical service providers are restricted by politicians.
Well the “American Dream” is subjective. And nobodies trying to tear yours down.
Again, PNAC was not a conspiracy theory, no matter how many times you’re going to claim so. And as I demonstrated, clearly all politicians take advantage of any crisis to advance their agendas. Democrats are not the party of power at the moment, regardless of what any of them say, it’s Republicans at this moment that are using this present crisis to advance their agenda…
ROTFLMAO
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and former Vice President Joe Bidensay we must throw election integrity to the wayside in favor of an all-mail election, fundamentally changing how Americans vote in eight months. The overhaul would vastly expand opportunities for fraud and weaken confidence in our elections, but all Washington Democrats see is a potential benefit for their party.
Pelosi says she needs $4 billion, at the height of the pandemic, to "really democratize our whole system.” Pardon those of us who thought we already had democratic elections.
If it were about safety, why does Pelosi call for mandatory early voting in all states, forcing polls to be open “no less than 10 hours” every day for over two weeks before Election Day? Why do Democrats encourage public transportation use, which can increase exposure to viruses, by mandating polling places be within walking distance of a bus stop or metro? And why do Democrats want paid campaign operatives going door to door, collecting mountains of ballots? So much for social distancing.
Because Democrats see the pandemic, as Rep. James Clyburn, D-S.C., said, as “a tremendous opportunity to restructure things to fit our vision.” And try to give themselves a political edge.
Actually Smiley, acknowledging the truth of the fiasco created by the founding members of PNAC who went on to work in the Bush administration, is not defending me. Clearly I was mentioning something that you already know to be true…
The country was founded upon core values. The Constitution and Bill of Rights reflect those values. There is nothing subjective about it.
The good thing is, the picture of the Republican Party today, is changed. The Trump supporters forced a change and returns to Patriotism, so even 1/2 normal leftists are seeing how crazy their leftist masters are and how they have been used by the Globalist plots.
Oh your just so clever with the strawmen. The existence of the PNAC isn’t the issue
The unsupported by evidence conspiracy theory is the claim their writings provided an overarching agenda Republicans used like Democrats are using the Chinese virus pandemic. You haven’t demonstrated anything other than an ability to recite a musty conspiracy theory.
No matter how many times you offer your opinion Republicans are taking advantage of the pandemic the lack of evidence shows this is nothing but partisan nonsense.
You are history deficient. Postwar, there was one bright spot in the list of “Democratic” Presidents. and he was gunned down. Otherwise, they were weak and corrupted parties in name only, until Trump, with the exception of Eisenhower alerting the people to the colluding Globalists and Reagan’s honest patriotism.
