@Jeff brought this up earlier. The president has the Constitutional authority to convene Congress to address the state of the union at a time of his choosing.

Trump can call a special joint session of Congress through Article 2 Section 3 of the Constitution. If he did, the Sergeant at Arms would get every single butt in a seat.
The problem with that is, the speaker determines who can take the floor, doubt they could have him removed, the secret service would probably frown on that, more likely she would put on a show of ordering him off the floor.
Plus Democrats would love the theater of having to drag them into their seats.
Can you help me find in section 1 where Congress has the authority to deny the president his Constitutional duties…because in section 2 article 3 clearly states that president has the authority to convene congress.
And clearly this is case of disagreement if nothing else.

Good. Focus on getting the government open. The state of the union is not good until that happens.
Trump likes breaking orthodoxy. I say hold the SOTU, which is a report to the people, on the steps of the Capital.

I didn’t see a thing about the invitation being rescinded only that Nancy tried to use the excuse of inadequate security as a reason to ask the President to reschedule his SOTU speech!
