Strikes me as odd that you would think that leaving Iraq is leaving the Middle East or that you don’t count yourself amongst those that want us out of Iraq and the greater Middle East.
I’m open to listening to people who know much better about the region than the stuff I only learn from the media. I have no “set in stone” belief as to whether or not we should stay. The libertarian side of me says we have no business fighting and risking American lives in the desert half a world away. The conservative side of me that listens to Dan Crenshaw types pointing out if we don’t fight terrorism over there we will be fighting it on our soil like 9/11 or the first attack on the WTC. So I could be swayed with intelligent argument from people that have been there and don’t just get their opinions from mass media. So I guess the proper answer is very nuanced and above my pay grade. I’ll take the side that keeps the most Americans safe while maintaining our dominance on the world stage.
Well, one needn’t listen to the mass media to know that US bases and troops deployed ALL OVER the Middle East, interfering in the affairs of other nations, conducting both covert and overt regime change operations, extrajudicial killings, rendition and assassinations, would be the very provocations that would bring about bitterness and retaliating attacks from that part of the world.
This isn’t rocket science. Both liberal and conservative think tanks have produced papers on rising Islamic extremism, increased attacks and an America LESS safe as a result of our military adventurism in the Middle East. The UN has produced the same reports. The UN has reported the obvious, that a record number of global refugees have been created as a result of western interference in the ME.
So you can support continued US military presence and operations in the ME, that create more terrorists and make America less safe, OR, you can make sure that Trump hears your voice as you demand that he keep his campaign promise and get us out of the Middle East. The choice should be easy.

Thanks to our government, America is experiencing the slow bleed out of a decaying, rotting empire. The carcass is already rotting and the hyenas and vultures are picking at the decaying flesh (nonstop immigration). This can go on for quite some time before we evolve into the next stage of what a collapsed empire looks like - all while the masses cheer for more.

Thought this was an interesting spin on things, another avenue to create additional chaos:
The Russian state-owned news agency RIA Novosti quoted Elena Panina, a member of the foreign affairs committee of the State Duma (the lower house of Russia’s parliament), as suggesting that the President Donald Trump may have been ignorant of Soleimani’s significance in Iran when ordering the strike to kill him. She speculated that Trump was tricked into approving the move:
“In this situation, we cannot exclude that the American military and intelligence agencies took advantage of the story of the disturbances near the U.S. Embassy in Iraq in their corporate interests and simply framed Donald Trump, who did not fully understand the significance of the figure of Qassem Soleimani, who has the status of a national hero in Iran.”
If Trump buys into this, his recent comments about our ‘excellent Intelligence Personnel’ will turn on its head, right back to full-blown Deep State conspiracies: The Framing of Poor Donald Trump.

I do not care if you are a democrat or republican we will not stand for any politician taking matters into their own hands for personal gain and risking the lives of citizens and military. He acted with zero authority, zero permission, and we will never allow any president from any party to break these protocols. That’s being an American and that is our power to vote. Consulting congress means consulting is the people. I don’t care if he saved Mother Theresa he did not ask us our permission so think about that. The ends do not justify the means. Acting without authority from the military or the people means an autocrat, or king, or monarch. Don’t give your power away to any politician.
Ridiculous posit. The President doesn’t need your permission to do anything for which his power is listed or otherwise granted in our Constitution. He is THE COMMANDER IN CHIEF.
At this time, your only option is to elect someone more to your liking. Have at it!

When Marco Rubio first suggested an independent Kurdistan I thought kinda crazy.
