Socialism from History

Nice try but you cannot explain, provide evidence to a person unwilling to read the facts.

The US government didn’t build the railway system in the United States - private companies did that using the most innovative technology at the time. At one point in time, all rails in the US were owned and operated by the private sector - now the government owns, controls, and/or operates the vast majority of them.

State control of infrastructure is one of the first critical steps on the path of socialism towards controlling the means of production. Socialism doesn’t happen overnight.

This is basic stuff dude, seriously.

I don’t disagree with the suggestion that infrastructure can and probably should be private in most cases. I don’t disagree that the government has certainly overstepped in a lot of cases. That said, to suggest tax funded infrastructure is Socialism is to be ignorant of the definition of Socialism. Calling the act of people coordinating roads through the use of government is a damn big leap to government controlling corporations. A lot of the government programs you mentioned are local funded or at worst state funded. SS is certainly a step too far in my eyes and I agree with the incrementalism aspect of Socialism. I just have trouble taking someone seriously when they suggest the police department is socialist. There are social aspect to our government right now that are certainly trending us to Socialism and there are idiots like Maxine Waters that advocate openly for Socialism. . . we just need to be careful of the definition because the opposite of Socialism isn’t anarchy.

Name one politician that has advocated for socialistic policies? Medicare for all isn’t socialism… it’s a social program.

Means of production, right?

Seriously???

AOC. Green New Deal.

What about it meets the true definition of socialism. Which policy has “the government taking over the means of production”?

Not going to play your silly game. Move along.

Bernie Sanders proclaims himself a socialist. His policies are clearly aiming towards that, he’s smart enough to know that he can only move the country little by little in that direction.

Back in the 1970’s, Tom Hayden thought that he had a good formula to advance socialism - he had his “campaign for economic democracy.” He knew that socialism was a poisoned term, so he dreamed up a nice-sounding euphemism. Alas, it’s not so poisoned anymore.

No he proclaims himself to be a democratic socialist.

This is how I know you’ve been defeated. You resort to throwing out phrases like “LW talking points” or “silly games” instead of answering a point blank question.

Which part of the “green new deal” has the government taking over the means of production?

In your prior life as dantes, you must have learned that continuing to repeat the same question over and over again, will yield the same repeatable result.

I sure miss the dead horse emoji.

Please stop referring to me as someone else.

You can make an assertion about saying AOCs Green New Deal is socialism but can’t name one thing in the proposal that meets the definition of socialism? Talk about disingenuous.

Carry on making up shit…

He might as well just call himself a Menshevik

Renewable energy, who would be in charge?

Transportation

Cows and climate change

Guaranteed job, leave, vacation and retirement… worked well for the USSR

Labor laws

Public ownership

Trade Unions

Indigenous people, she wants treaties honored, what about african americans what they were promised?

Medicare for all, housing, security, clean air and water, healthy foods

this was from her proposal, how will the government not be in charge?

Maxine Waters.

Yeah, he’s dead on accurate. What that moron is trying to do is take over the means of production.

Which one of those is the government taking over the means of production. What is the government producing?

In what way? For example, What factories are being ran by the government to product solar panels?
