The genie is out of the bottle
Now an Immigration Moratorium is a mainstream Republican policy position.
We can debate the ideal length of an Immigration Moratorium, should it be years or decades? That’s something we can hash out later - but the principle that All Immigration Must End Now is what matters.
Pretty easy to figure this one. He waited until the terror at the spiraling jobless numbers were at a fever pitch. The MSM and Dims helped gin that panic up of course, they were expecting to harvest that in the negotiations over money for the PPP to force surrendering to ANY demands to make that money flow. Trump decided it was a really nice crisis, shame to let it go to waste… or let Nancy harvest it first.
The way I can see it, is the fact, “Disruption generates opportunity”. So, what a better way to continue what he has always wanted to do, and that is, to keep illegals out of the country. Because, they would be “generating opportunities” by disrupting the American jobs market.
Unless, they are on a VISA or some kind of (legal) reason to be here, they have no right being here in the first place.
It’s the Democrats that want them here…and they are going so far as even providing them a stimulus check just to be here.

So how many documented legal visitors will take on an undocumented alias name and request the money?
It’s nice to think it’s some 3D chess and he was just waiting for the Corona Virus for the past 3.5 years to make good on one of his campaign themes…
But his previous actions give me the impression he really doesn’t give a fuck about the immigration portion of his platform.
Which makes me consider the possibility that something else is motivating this.
Doubt he was waiting for Coronavirus specifically. But if I saw this economic crash coming a year away, he also knew there would be a crash about something. After all it is the only way to make the election competitive enough to keep the TV ratings from crashing. Proclaiming a closing of the border to protect American jobs is a lot easier in an economic crisis. Like now.
Now he needs to build the wall and say he is doing it to save us from bat flu.

Kushner: A temporary 6-month immigration ban? What do you need a temporary 60-day limitation on green cards with special carve-outs for Indian H1-Bs, Chinese grad students, and Mexican farm workers for?
(1 week later) Trump: the Invisible Enemy is under control! I have decided to reopen immigration in the largest numbers ever, we must get back to work!
At least the deflation and climb down from Trump’s BAN IMMIGRATION tweet was all condensed to 24 hours.
Saves time to get to the disappointment right away instead of waiting several months or a few years.
Tucker Carlson nailed it:
“There is only one point in handing out hundreds of thousands of these visas to foreign nationals and it is to placate big business.”
“If the point of this EO was to protect American jobs it failed.”
An immigration pause — certainly while millions of Americans are suddenly out of work — is no more than a moderate idea. A truly nationalist policy would end immigration and encourage foreigners to go home.
But this was just a tweet, not action, and we’ve seen plenty of grandiose Trump tweets with ZERO follow-up.
If Trump asked Kushner and Ivanka to leave the Whitehouse today he’d easily win in November.
It’s the left. It’s Congress. It’s the media. No, it’s his own fucking son-in-law. Get this guy out of here!
It was beyond stupid of him to tweet something that his original base elected him on and then backtrack because Kushner said so.
We have 23,000,000 unemployed what wrong with them ? How about the millions ofable bodied ? 2016, enrollment had reached 44 million, with costs exploding to $70 billion per year. Much of this growth is being driven not by seniors, poor children, or individuals with disabilities, but instead by able-bodied adults.
Many are too proud to actually work on a farm even if it would help their family . I worked on farms to help out many times , they pay cash and it gets you off your ass . We do NOT need an influx of foreigners working our farms when we are paying millions to stay home .
Teenagers looking for pocket money would be great to fill the farms with. However, how many are needed and where do they come from in such mass numbers? Where do the able-bodied come from in mass numbers?
What about labor laws, minimum wage, worker’s comp and overtime pay, etc.
As it exists farm work is geared for imported workers willing to be crammed into on-site housing and working for low wages.
The million collecting benefits who are abled bodied .
The 23,000,000 unemployed who may NEVER go back to their old jobs because they are GONE .
Do these laws you talk about apply to guest workers ,illegals too ?
This drives DOWN wages and we then hear Americans will not do that type work . I watched car washes hire illegals and pay low wages and it made the other car wash businesses go under trying to compete yet pay a fair wage , soon nearly all car wash businesses had to hire illegals . It’s ALL bullshit . There are jobs that pay according to skill level and labor laws . This bullshit encourages cheating and drives down ALL wages .

You can’t mix laws and regulations that drive wages up with those who are willing to forgo them for pennies on the dollar and live in basically a camp.
If you want Americans to take these jobs then they are going to have to earn a wage that will allow for housing and the ability to support a family.
And those jobs should do just that . But we can’t continue to say everyone should earn a livable wage then allow foreigners to work for less because that is exactly what makes jobs that will not support a family .
