Two officials with direct knowledge of operations have indicated that Haitian illegal immigrants are being released into the United States, with one describing it as being on a “very, very large scale.”
Over the last week, around 10,000 Haitians crossed the border and set up camp under the Del Rio International Bridge.
The report comes just days after White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki defended the administration not requiring vaccines or negative COVID tests because they are “not intending to stay here for a lengthy period of time.”
An Associated Press report cites one source who says the large-scale release of Haitians may rest “in the thousands.”
The AP states that a large number of Haitians are being processed under immigration laws and are being given notices to appear at an immigration office within 60 days rather than being expelled to Haiti.
The report points out that the claims by the U.S. officials are “undercutting the Biden administration’s public statements that the thousands in the camp faced immediate expulsion.”
The Associated Press’ willingness to point out that the administration appears to be lying about the Haitian migrants seems rather extraordinary.
Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, who visited a site in Del Rio where over 10,000 Haitians had camped out under a bridge, warned those rushing the border, “If you come to the United States illegally, you will be returned.”
This past weekend, the Biden administration announced that they would swiftly begin deporting the Haitian migrants as the situation at the border was escalating.
“Individuals and families are subject to border restrictions, including expulsion,” Marsha Espinosa, assistant secretary for public affairs for the Department of Homeland Security said.
“Irregular migration poses a significant threat to the health and welfare of border communities and to the lives of migrants themselves and should not be attempted,” she added.
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki recently defended illegal immigrants not being subject to the same vaccine mandates Americans are subjected to by saying the Haitian migrants weren’t planning to stay.
“As individuals come across the border, and they are both assessed for whether they have any symptoms, if they have symptoms they are … The intention is for them to be quarantined.” Psaki said when confronted with the hypocrisy.
“That is our process, they’re not intending to stay here for a lengthy period of time, I don’t think it’s the same thing,” she added. “It’s not the same thing.”
Meanwhile, the Associated Press report also reveals that talking points offered by Democrats and the mainstream media – that the Haitians are just seeking asylum – may be false.
Marcelo Ebrard, Mexico’s foreign relations secretary, said following a conversation with Secretary of State Antony Blinken that “most of the Haitians already had refugee status in Chile or Brazil and weren’t seeking it in Mexico.”
“What they are asking for is to be allowed to pass freely through Mexico to the United States,” Ebrard explained.
“If you look at what the financial strain and the healthcare strain and other strains that Val Verde County is dealing with, as well as the additional counties around this area, there is a need for a presidential disaster declaration,” Abbott told reporters.
Abbott, who declared a state of emergency in border counties earlier this year, described the Haitian migrants as suffering in “100-degree heat” and “squalid conditions.”
