If a man throws a burning match onto your carpet, you could quickly extinguish the flame either by stamping upon it or by some other method involving water, perhaps.
If your carpet had been pre-soaked with gasoline by some other miscreant, then you would have zero chance of extinguishing the flame before considerable damage had occurred, including possibly to yourself.

That is to say, there have been virtually no deaths among the disease free population under 50. Yet hundreds of thousands have been infected and tens of thousands have become symptomatic or sick, but recovered from this novel flu in the normal fashion.
In the development from infant to toddler to pre-K and on up the line, speaking the language (without knowledge of reading or writing it) comes first. Is it definitely not out of the ordinary for someone to learn to speak a second language and never learn to read it. Certainly, if they cannot read it, they also cannot write it.
I know a man in his 60’s that has never learned to read or write. His vocabulary and knowledge of proper grammar is still above average.
Fortunately, information regarding the coronavirus can be transmitted to people who cannot read or write. All that is required is the listen and understand the truth.
Unfortunately, discerning who is telling you the truth has become a high hurdle. We have an information glut in both truth and bullshit.

When people get back to work, I am sure there will be plenty of changes. We NEED to open back the economy. We just have to be more careful as ever, when we associate with other people. This is the “new norm”. Just as we got through 9/11 and other tragedies. We will prevail once again!

I have watched 1/2 of the Corbett report so far.
Yes, meaningless numbers have been thrown around while zeros can be added or taken away at will.
The Japanese government, which has only issued advisories so far and no lockdown, seems to be embarrassed by the low numbers of infected people and deaths despite the fact that Japan is one of the first countries hit by the virus due to the presence of Chinese tourists into February.
As you know, trains and subways run on schedule while restaurants, cafes and shops are all open, unless they voluntarily closed for whatever excuse.
What an embarrassment!

I seriously had to think this one more than once.
Even though, if it goes through, there will be a lot of Americans (especially those who had Covid-19) that would love to sue the crap out of China. But it would be unlikely, unless they use their stimulus checks (which would be quite a waste). Some Americans can’t even afford most of the “essentials”, nevermind have the money to sue someone - as big as China.
Secondly, China is a big country…and China could care even less. They are probably saying, “Go ahead! I like to see you all try to sue us!”

These are up-to-date values for Rt by state, a key measure of how fast the virus is growing. It’s the average number of people who become infected by an infectious person. If Rt is above 1.0, the virus will spread quickly. When Rt is below 1.0, the virus will stop spreading.
