People are clueless as to what the deal actually contains.

I know! What bothers me most about this new deal is the language that Democrats put into it that allows States, counties and local governments to veto the construction of the Wall. That is downright deceptive and based on that alone should not be signed. IMO I hope Trump rejects it, but the problem is if Trump decided to shut the Government down again, how will that play out in the court of pubic opinion? Its a very tricky situation, and I suspect Trump will cave much like he did when he signed the omnibus spending bill!

Ok the new details of what the new Border Security deal actually means. This is a very bad deal and I can not see how Trump can sign on to this for doing so would handcuff him to address the issue of building the border wall.

Here is some of the details:

Provides $1.375 billion, or $4.325 billion less than the $5.7 billion the Trump administration requested, for a very limited 55 miles of physical barrier that can only be placed along the southern border in only the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. Contains language allowing only fencing designs in use as of 2017. No funding for new border patrol agents above the current on board levels. Does not fund the Administration’s request for joint detention facilities. No funding for additional enforcement and removal field personnel.

Summary of Negotiated Budget Appropriations W/ Limits on Border Security and No Funding for Border Agents or ICE Agents (full pdf)….

Posted on February 14, 2019 by sundance

The actual budget appropriations bill is seven compartments consisting of more than 5,000 pages. However, here is the 29 page summary outlining the key elements as negotiated by congress.

WARNING: This is a bad deal, but it reflects the UniParty reality within congress. Take a deep breath; don’t lash out. Remember, there are very few MAGA minded representatives. This was negotiated by two wings of the same corporate bird and both want open borders.

(Via Ryan James Girdusky) Border wall bill is out, here are some highlights:

Here are the areas Trump cannot build any wall

|551x411

The bill gives $1.375 billion for constructing a “wall”/pedestrian fencing

|545x110

$725 million for technology

|477x161

They can only be used to make steel bollard design… no concrete wall, no prototypes. Same thing as what Bush and Obama built… just a little bit taller

|601x202

The bill secures more than $3.1 billion in foreign health services, more than twice for the wall.

|485x309

Sec. of DHS cannot increase border crossing fees

|514x233

Border “Wall” construction is only allowed in the Rio Grande Valley Sector

|569x112

Other highlights:

$415 million for humanitarian aide

$77 million for opioid equipment

1,200 new Customs and Border Patrol Agents (retain current levels)

The bill expands Catch and Release by reducing the number of border beds from 49,060 to 40,520.

No funding for additional enforcement and removal field personnel. – that means no more ICE agents to deport people already in the country.

Expands the Alternatives to Detention program from 82,000 to 100,000… so instead of housing family units at the border- they get moved into the interior where they almost always stay in the country permanently.

Provides $40 million for additional ICE staffing dedicated to overall ATD (Alternatives to Detention) case management, particularly for asylum seekers… so no new ICE agents, but money to ICE to help illegal aliens settle in a non-detention center in the country.

The bill gives over $1 billion for the Smithsonian.

$3.4 billion in refugee assistance – $74 million more than last year.

$4.4 billion in international disaster assistance – $100 million more than last year.

Does not eliminate any foundations that Trump wanted to get rid of including: The Asia Foundation, the U.S. African Development Foundation, the Inter-American Foundation, and the U.S. Trade and Development Agency.

Israel, Ukraine, and Jordan receive $5.3 billion for border security fencing.

Let the latter aspect sink in for a moment. How does Trump sign onto this without losing his base? I can not see how its possible!

Thanks for getting the details out.

I was not optimistic with the ability of Congress to do anything of substance. This deal appears to undermine the President’s policy in a significant way. President Trump will get lambasted by the media if he does not sign because it is BIPARTISAN.

I will trust President Trump to do what he can. The forces keeping our border open are very difficult to fight and defeat.

Thanks for the good post.

Actually most of the credit goes to Sundance from the Last Refuge! I posted it here because I want this issue to get as much exposure as it can! This bill is as bad as it gets and it essentially guarantees open borders and limits where Trump can build the wall. I can not see how he can sign this Bill and not lose his base, thus putting his re-election chances in 2020 in serious jeopardy! He needs to veto this Bill and take his beating in the PR war until this appropriately gets resolved, bipartisan or not, he needs to stand on principle and most Americans who are paying attention will understand!

The court of public opinion shouldn’t matter. If Congress refuses to do their jobs, they should be held accountable. Period. End of story.

I totally agree! Is it Friday yet? Because if Trump does sign this, I am anxious to see what kind of mental gymnastics he will have to pull off in order to explain to his base why he is not going to veto this bill.

This sound more like hurdles rather than fencing. What are the Socialists trying to do, provide training facilities for the Mexican 400m hurdles team in preparation for the next Olympics or stop illegal immigrants getting into the US?

Anyone who can run jump or swim is already here.

Oh they are trying to secure their grip on power by overwhelming our system and getting more voters. This is right out of the Saul Alynky’s “Rules for Radicals” playbook. They might as well be training the Mexican national team for the 400m hurdles because this is complete horse shit!

This level of stupidity exists over here as well, Satan Soros is everywhere

We are under assault from the Globalist cabal! I admit as much as being naive that we would be immune to what Europe with their migrant crisis had gone through. Boy was I wrong! I mean that in the most sincerest terms! Surely Trump must understand that if he signs this deal then the country will be lost forever and any border wall being built as well.

Trump is not that daft, he’ll have something up his sleeve for Pelosi, her day is coming

Well from what I just learned minutes ago, there was an idea that was presented by a news media pundit Marc Theissen that could allow Trump to not sign this bill and also avoid a shutdown as well. They could do whats called a “CR” (a continuing resolution)! What this means is that Trump could use the sequester clause that Obama agreed to back in 2011 where if Trump doesn’t get his funding for border security, he could invoke this clause to deny democrats 55 Billion dollars in entitlement spending when the CR comes up in September to be renewed again, in which he would play the long game. Not only would it give Trump back his leverage, but democrats would be cornered into deciding whether or not to give Trump 5.7 billion dollars in additional funding and time to come up with a more reasonable bill that he could sign, or lose 55 billion dollars that democrats would be on the hook for losing. IMO this seems the most likely outcome if I were a betting man, and knowing Trump in how he loves to use leverage in any negotiations, this seems by far what he is most likely going to go after.

Wow you think highly of him! His deal making skills are horrendous.

Right because you are so much better are running multi-billion dollar companies that you can negotiate better deals! That is a big fat “WOW” RIGHT back at yall!

If border security is NOT a top priority it is garbage !!! Do we want to spend double the $135,000,000,000 we already spend on ILLEGALS ? How many more millions will we have to support ? :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:
