Genesis was written around 5,000 years ago and even if it is truly divinely inspired it had to be written for a people exiting at a time when all scientific knowledge known to ma would fill a typical school kid’s notebook.
These were men living in an era where mankind was still transitioning from the stone age into the iron age and it had to be written in terms they could largely understand.
I’m a believer but I also accept reality, the fundamentalists do not and cannot accept anything that doesn’t fit their very narrow and limited understanding of basic history and human development.
The Dutch were also fanatics over cleanliness. I mean, they used to scrub their sidewalks. My Dutch grandmother would not allow anyone in her kitchen unless they washed their hands; and if she was cooking, you had to wear a hairnet. Her weekly bread baking ritual was a sight to see. Up at 4:00 am, and then the nail cutting & hand washing began. Out came the linen cloths that would cover the loaves while they rose. A wonderful part of my childhood. Her egg noodles were to die for. And the icing on the cake was her kitchen coal stove. You never had toast until you did it on a coal stove fire.
It is a compendium of various documents. Mostly from Babylonian and Egyptian sources, written and oral. And of course pens of lying scribes, as Jeremiah puts it.
**[Leviticus 25:23 The land must not be sold permanently, because the land is mine and you reside in my land as foreigners and strangers.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I believe that translates to: We are expected to be good stewards.
I don’t know that much about recycling, but I’d imagine that the costs of recycling aluminum cans is greatly on the front end. Mining ore, one guy with an iron claw scoops up ten tons of ore, maybe you get one ton of aluminum after processing. Getting one ton of recycled cans probably involves alot of labor to collect, sort, and transport to a processing facility. I have no idea of the undesirable stuff that goes along with the cans, but they need to be prepared for just about anything. Mining ore, you at least know pretty well what you’re scooping up and what junk will be in the unwanted refuse material.
It’s got to be the same with plastics. Even worse, because there’s so many different types of plastics, PVC would be terrible to mix with PET bottles.
That does not explain the above average evaporation necessary for the accumulation of snow and ice. By that scenario, the waters would also cool offering less evaporation.
A warming of the oceans is still necessary. A few hundred years of accumulation with significant precipitation would scientifically explain the glaciation.
WoW! The Bible is scientifically and historically accurate in every way. It does not need to be altered as new scientific discoveries are found, unlike Darwinist/Big Bang/Earth seeding hypotheses need to be.
How many of these brainy folks today, without Google, could smelt rocks into steel or bronze? Build a ship over a football field in length that would float for a year? Cut, transport and stack 100 ton stones without steam or electric power? Accurately map out the stars and planets and their movements? Preform brain surgery with rudimentary tools? How wise would humans be if they lived for 300, 500 or 900 years? We today are the dummies. Just as a photocopy of a photograph is less sharp and clear than the original, and a photocopy of that copy is even less precise, so too humans have accumulated detrimental mutations from our ancestors. Devolution is what scientific research proves as opposed to evolution.
I think the reason ancients created fantastic feats of engineering is, no-one told them they couldn’t do it. Check out the Stone of the Pregnant Woman. Baalbek, Lebanon. It would ( today ) be a monumental effort, if it even could be accomplished. Stone of the Pregnant Woman - Wikipedia
https:// en.wikipedia.org /wiki/ Stone_of_the_Pregnant_Woman ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The fact the stones were cut & shaped is amazing; but more amazing is, they were moved & set in place.
Indeed. My Great Grandmother was still cooking on a hundred plus year old wood stove well into the early 90’s when my Grandmother finally convinced her to move in with the grandparents.
I can still taste and smell her homemade break cooked in it.
@TWR
Yeah, yeah. A hero when a baby abandoned in a basket floating down the river, and found by a royal and raised as such.
Such a story is found everywhere.
Usually such babies are of questionable origin, so such stories have to be added later.
This is pretty hilarious because John Ward uses facts to point out the obvious fraud that was perpetrated on behalf of the parents exploiting their 16 year old daughter. All in good humor Ward brilliantly lays out to bare why we won’t be hearing much from Thunberg anymore.
