Sorry, I had to laugh. I will not answer any more post.It is impossible to deal either with jesus freaks or Mohammed Madness!
Nothing is “impossible.”
The “Zeitgeist” of those determined to destroy the inner heart of faith, was a false Messiah, a false Christ or Buddha. Yet, inside you is the seed of enlightenment and salvation.
Buddhism speaks of those who “scorch their seed of Buddhahood,” but can still attain Buddhahood… The inner heart of faith in any true religion is divine and cosmic.
The human being has within them, all the answers they seek, but because of grudges and scars, the fundamental darkness within life, , is like a shroud of depression, blanketing the people.
Look at how amazing life is. It cannot be explained away with a mind of darkness. Everything is the working of the Divine Law of Cause and Effect, which is your True soul.
You wouldn’t want to throw away a dirty bag with gold in it.
Have you read “The Lotus Sutra”? I think it was by Walter Benjamin (not sure the author is correct)
Yes. There are a number of English translations, one of them is Burton Watson whom you may be thinking of. I read all the translations and recite parts of it in Japanese daily.
The Lotus Sutra is called Saddharna Pundarika Sutra in Sanskrit, and Myoho Renge Kyo in Japanese. Miao Fa Lien Ching in Chinese.
It is the primary Sutra of original Mahayana Buddhism, per 7th century Chi-I (Tien’tai) in China and 13th century, Sun Lotus (Nichiren) in Japan.
It’s transmission in India, where it was compiled secretly, mostly in Kashmir, from before the 1st century and then during the 1st century was accomplished by the great Bodhisattvas, Ashvaghosa, Nagarjuna and others connected to the court of the Kushan Kings, most likely completed during the reign of King Kanishka, who sponsored the 4th Buddhist council.
I personally believe, Jesus was aware of it and most likely, involved in it’s compilation, during “lost years,” and unknown years of his life. Many Gospel parables appear to be derived from the Lotus Sutra. The 16th Chapter in particular:
Yes it is Burton Watson, Walter Benjamin is a critical theorist from the Frankfurt Institute as I am currently writing a chapter on Post Modernism and was rifling off the TOP of my head so got it mixed up!
That is very interesting and I will spend some time digesting this. I am currently exploring an idea for a new book about language and Christianity and this hits smack in the center of what I have been contemplating. Good find and thanks for sharing!
It’s revealing that he has self-isolated in Vatican City but has told his underlings to go forth into the wide world to minister to coronavirus sufferers? Sort of ‘I’m alright Jack and I’m gonna stay that way!’
I’ve found that too . . . oh and doggy people. I just cannot get on the same wavelength with 'em.
He probably has the virus.
Remember how he was grabbed by a pushy Asian woman some time ago?
Of course the Vatican cannot announce that, because it will damage his reputation as infallible.
Presupposing he’s looking forward to all the goodies awaiting him in heaven when he karks it, I’m surprised that he cares one way or the other.
‘pushy Asian woman’
No, Christian Charity is a gift of love, it doesn’t take your goods and money at the point of a gun like socialism.
All popes are completely human, they get sick and they die and have since the first pope.
Infallibility has nothing to do with being immune to disease.
All right.
The Pope is infallible but can catch the corona virus.
That’s fine with me.
A trendy Pope.
For a guy who pretends to be so educated you prove way too often that you’re a complete idiot.
Learn something for a change.
Cerberus, when I was a toddler in the early 1950’s,I believed in Santa Claus and the tooth fairy. It was an eventful morning to fine a shiny Mercury dime under my pillow. The Wizard of Oz scared the hell out of me as wells as Snow White. It was not until I was 7 years old when I realized these were nothing more than common folk tales. The first day in college, I was given the book “The Age of Reason” by Thomas Payne,I have been an atheist ever since. I realize now how easy it is to fall victim of a myth.
Isn’t it him who said “nobility” means “no ability”?
Guess who ruled England for so long.
I have long believed that there are certain things which are genetic, jbob - in my case they’re mainly sport, being obsessed with dogs, and religion, and that we (homosapiens. not you and me lol) either have those relevant genes, or we don’t. No criticism though, I’m just stating a personal belief. You’d probably like the God Delusion by Richard Dawkins; he’s even more atheistic than me! My atheism came about when my parents sent me to Sunday School - that’s something we have over here, where kids are sent to be indoctrinated into religion every Sunday morning; and the very first time my young brain realised what a load of mythical crap it all is, I
suddenly thought ‘WTF am I listening to this mindless drivel for?’, and much to my parents’ disappointment I never went again. Well I’ll qualify that - they thought I went, but in fact I played hookey, and went newting with my mates instead.
I think Dawkins is delusional.
Rupert Sheldrake is a fun guy.
I posted this elsewhere but
“Science is a belief system.”
I know he wrote the famous Essay “Common Sense” which fuelled the American Revolution against the UK.
