The will either convict him or not. If he’s convicted, he leaves office. If acquitted by the Senate, he has still been impeached.
Impeachment by the House is equivalent to being indicted by a grand jury. It does not establish guilt. It merely says “we have reason to believe he may have committed a crime!” In an indictment, the nature of the crime is spelled out.
One big problem with this farcical impeachment is that the House could not name a crime.
Abuse of power is not a defined crime.
Obstruction of the House is not a defined crime.

And I have repeatedly explained to you that President Trump had good nonpartisan reason to explicitly request the Ukrainians move to investigate corruption in general and Joe Biden in particular. Democrats never bothered to prove Trump was motivated by personal political gain which explains why this impeachment was only supported by Democrats in the House. The Democrats impeachment is such a wonderful accomplishment Nancy Pelosi is afraid to send it to the Senate.

Trump’s chief political rival challenging his seat. It’s clear to at least half of America that Trump abused the power of his office for that and even a recent Fox News poll shows a majority believe so. An overwhelming majority of Americans want witness at trial too.

He was a presenter - he put on a show with his bias clear to all. He might be a constitutional law professor; that doesn’t make his opinions correct. And you’re right- I thought he was a typically arrogant leftist prof, just more so than most. If he’s right about the law, then Trump is not yet impeached.
On has to ask themselves why invite a liberal professor to present his opinion when they could have enlisted an unbiased source which would have been more credible.
