In the same vein of shallow reactions to SCOTUS rulings, the Dems are only reading the first paragraph of the opinions, and then they start bitching and forget there’s more. The Pres only has exactly the same protection to make LEGAL decisions and act in LEGAL ways in conducting the business of the country as every president of every incorporated business in the USA (and most other countries). That’s the whole idea of “incorporation”, the Officers of businesses and the govt get protection from being sued or prosecuted for LEGAL decisions in exchange for agreeing to operate according to the rules of the State. Decisions on matters that are legal are protected; anything illegal is not protected. Words matter; it takes very few to say it: illegal acts or orders are not covered. PERIOD
The President can’t be sued or prosecuted for dumb decisions in private companies or the govt. Otherwise, Biden would have to be interned in a prison cemetery to serve his 150 years to life sentence.
Some people do not trust the lawyers and think that they are nothing but scumbags. They may have learned the lesson the hard way.
I am perhaps one of these people and of the opinion that judges are no different, with the caveat that there are judges who are genuinely conscientious, but this category is rare.
You might call this attitude cynical, but shouldn’t you be cynical about politicians, press-titutes, school teachers, college professors, doctors, priests etc who generally garner respect?

Josh Phillips on Epoch TV is a news analyst I frequent regularly, and he has recently made many extensively detailed broadcasts on the CCP. Interested parties will want to hear them all. CCP needs to feed 20% of the world’s population with 10% of the world’s arable land and 6% of the water. Math geniuses will tell you that dog don’t hunt. One look at a topographic map of China will show 50% desert, and most of the rest is mountains. In fact, Beijing is being encroached by that super-dry kind of climate from the west and suffers from dust storms; -as if their man-made air pollution wasn’t enough to kill them. Back to basic agriculture; the water in China may be worse than the air. So, if the air & water don’t kill ya, the food may,* -if you can get it.* The Standard Operating Principles of central planners when confronted with a problem is to tell everyone what to do to solve the problem, most famously how & what foods to produce. So you know what follows that: production mandates leading to surpluses of easy-to-grow stuff and concurrent shortages of hard-to-grow stuff; thence general food shortages leading to hoarding & starvation. Remember the Great Leap Backward? 50 million people didn’t make it all the way thru that problem era. Poison the land with over-fertilizing; depleting the organic fraction of the soil with failure to rotate crops & insufficient use of cover crops to re-new the humus fraction of the soil, plus failure to prevent erosion of topsoils incidentally containing the surplus fertilizers which further damages watercourses and ground waters. Altogether, the same old shit as every socialist government that ever existed uses, -badly, over and over and over. Welcome to today in China!
CCP has been cozying up the Iran and Russia to get enough oil & gas; Supplying Russia with arms in exchange for oil & gas; same for Iran. Trump can hurt all three by …”Drill, baby drill!” and you know he will. That will incidentally help us and our allies. CCP has been cozying up to food producers in South America, especially Brazil & Argentina, Venezuela being now neutered by their own hand in spite of having more oil than any other country in the world and more arable land laying fallow than most others have under plow. CCP owns more farm in the USA than Bill Gates. They need every square inch. They also own lots of meat processors in the USA, much of that shipped back to China. Guess what Trump can do with all that?
The war in Ukraine, formerly the world’s largest supplier of grains is squeezing the marketplace. This autumn will see a continued reduction in output in grains there and from Brazil which has land & weather problems. Sooner or later there will be more world demand than world supply and if the USA cuts off China’s supply of foods & grains starvation will bring down the CCP, or at least put them into a tailspin of local revolts. Go ahead; -manage 2 billion people who need to eat every day.
Trump understands the whole of world politics; he knows how much we in the west buy and how much power we need and what the sources of our needs are. He understands the same needs of the Evil CRINK Allies (China, Russia, Iran, North Korea). The various & sundry neutrals of the world all have needs and export to accumulate foreign exchange to buy what they can’t produce internally. This is a huge tool for Trump, too. He can bring all our allies together to force all the bad actors to heel, muy pronto.

Sort of, -as always, we need to not conflate the Chinese people with the CCP. The de-industrialization that befell middle America has happened elsewhere, too, and the masterful CCP planners are suddenly finding that, while they still need pork & grains, the rest of the world (where pork & grains are plentiful) have decided not to trade away all their good stuff for CCP’s EVs and other high-tech-stolen-technology-produced goods that CCP planned to supply the world with at near gun-point prices. Yes, CCP has an advantage in production at this writing, BUT they forgot one iddy-biddy factoid: they don’t have technology that nobody else has. They stole the technology and the sore losers are more than happy to have govt aid help them produce in their own countries and bypass China.
That’s an illustration one more time why central planning and even acquiring technology under the cover of darkness is faulty and decidedly 2nd best to free-market capitalism: the free market produces what is needed; constantly updates and upgrades to better stuff and abandons older/dated/lesser quality or utility items as new & improved are provided. That’s Adam Smith’s “Invisible Hand” of creative destruction that keeps renewing the marketplace with better and better stuff at better and better prices. Poor people in America have stuff that even Kings didn’t have 100 years ago. My laptop today at $500 is better than the biggest IBM 360 system I ran in 1966 which filled a 500 sq ft room at Fisher Body. God only knows what that one cost GM every month. Creative destruction is the product of people who know a lot about something or some business and are working as we speak in their garages to make the next-generation thingamabob. They’re doing it on the cheap, and we all will live better for it coming into existence. The inventors will get rich as Kings and that’s what drives the free-market.

I agree that the whole notion of communism is not compatible with the Chinese, who are ultimate individualists. What matters is the family, clan, and their sustenance (food) vs total strangers.
The Russians are different. They think communally, not necessarily communist but in the same direction.
In all very old cultures with extensive histories there is usually a religious string that forms the backbone of culture. Western cultures reflect Judeo-Christian values with distinct right and wrong clearly delineated, within a range, but clear to all. There will always be sub-groups that take this or that aspect to extremes, we recognize them as such, condemn them as false interpretations, and move back to the core. Organized religion in the west is in decline; I speculate because it is becoming lax on the right/wrong definitions for example tolerance of screwball liberals and failing to condemn LGBQTXYZ, CRT, DEI, violent demonstrators Defund The Police, Homeless bums living on the streets, drugs, ANTIFA, BLM, Anti-Jew, Pro-Islam, abortion as birth control, redefining petty (permissible) thief, etc., etc. A “church” that doesn’t condemn all of the above can’t claim to be representatives of a good God’s will. Picking & choosing doesn’t convey any gravitas.
In an earlier age in America local church leaders would have led mass mixed denomination demonstrations at city halls from coast-to-coast condemning Prosecutors & Mayors for not enforcing the law and supporting the police. Those elected officials would not have had a moment’s peace at home or in the office; never allowed to eat in a restaurant, shop in peace or take two steps without being shadowed by disgruntled citizens asking when they would return law & order to their community. It would last until recalls were complete. Now; today; nothing. Business as usual; shrinking moral authority begets shrinking flocks.
I can’t speak to how these things are, or have evolved over the years elsewhere, like Europe & UK, et al. Maybe an EU reader can help.
As for China; they have suffered the same decline from their traditional, historical religious adherence, but at the point of a gun, so it’s different; more like the Christians in the catacombs in the Dark Ages . How much of their deeply seated, 5,000 year old culture erased forever, who know? But, communism is not an endearing or enduring master; it is oppressive at best; murderous at worst, and westerners who have come thru it did so unconvinced that religion should be shunned. They carried on as best they could and many outlived it. Certainly, many other westerners will never return to organized religion, but eastern religions like Taoism, as in China are ancient philosophies, different in nature from the west and instruct followers how to exist in harmony with the universe; the same universe will exist in China when communism is thrown out.
Communism is always going to be a passing phase because it is abusive and it doesn’t work. CCP is exhibiting the same ills seen in earlier versions elsewhere: when things start going bad, they reach for even more adventurous goals. They want to replace the dollar with the Yuan. That will end badly because Trump will help bring back the strong dollar. They are trying to expand their markets in the 3rd world to replace the USA, UK & EU as trading partners who are sick of CCP dirty-dealing methods and are withdrawing as willing customers. The rest of the world doesn’t have the buying power to replace the EU, UK & USA, so that won’t work either. Ultimately, the CCP will find themselves with a shrinking “world currency” people don’t want, and a 3rd world marketplace too small to bring in enough foreign exchange to buy what they need from the outside world. It’s very hard to control starving masses. Eventually, a Chinese Gorbachev will throw in the towel.
I don’t think money has much to do with it; it could even be that what they are not doing is actively diminishing their income streams. I think that Liberals don’t think; they react, and they have a poor understanding of the world, so they react wrongly. As The Gipper said 40 years ago, “…It’s not that that Liberals don’t know anything; it’s what they know is wrong…”
People with a solid mindset based upon a good education and proper upbringing in a loving home have an understanding of right & wrong and how important it is to stay on the productive path in life, and they react to that which is outrageous as compared to the normal. That reaction always guides them to reject out of hand that which does not lead to a positive outcome, and embrace or accept new things & ideas which will lead to a positive outcome.
We are confronted daily with new situations, ideas, people, thoughts of how to do this or that, and we respond based upon our whole background, including resorting to studying further things we don’t quite grasp right away. Our initial reaction and how we think about it after we’ve had time to think about it leads us to judgments of good, bad, or indifferent, if we have a solid intellectual foundation.
Democrats have feet of clay. They may seem to be well educated and well-intentioned, and be prominent or ordinary citizens, but they have flawed and/or incomplete understanding of right & wrong; good & bad, and universally make the wrong judgments about right or wrong, good or bad.
Look at their inability to stop supporting Biden. I rest my case.
