Sections of the whistleblower complaint alleging President Trump pressured Ukraine’s president for political advantage relied on a self-described investigative journalism organization funded by billionaire, left-wing activist George Soros.
The whistleblower admits not having been “a direct witness to most of the events described” and bases many claims on the work of the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project or OCCRP, reports Aaron Klein of Breitbart News.
Soros’ Open Society was listed as the No. 2 donor in most of the annual financial records posted on OCCRP’s website beginning in 2012. In some years, Breitbart notes, Soros’ group was the organization’s top donor.
OCCRP is cited in a key section of the complaint that claims Ukrainian officials followed up on Trump’s request for Ukraine to investigate allegations of corruption by then-Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter, who was receiving $50,000 monthly from a natural gas company despite having no experience in the industry.
The complaint states “multiple U.S. officials told me” that Trump personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani “had reportedly privately reached out to a variety of other” advisers of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, “including Chief of Staff Andriy Bohdan and Acting Chairman of the Security Service of Ukraine Ivan Bakanov.”
Breitbart points out that even though the statement was written in first person – “multiple U.S. officials told me” – it contains a footnote citing OCCRP.
The OCCRP report was a joint investigation with BuzzFeed News, based on interviews and court and business records in the United States and Ukraine.
BuzzFeed is known for being the first to publish the dubious anti-Trump dossier funded by the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee that was largely debunked by Robert Mueller’s special counsel investigation. None of its claims, from unnamed Russian sources, were corroborated.
OCCRP and BuzzFeed separately published similar lengthy pieces on July 22 as a result of their investigation claiming Giuliani was attempting to use connections to have Ukraine investigate Trump’s political rivals.
In addition to the claim that Giuliani reached out to top Zelensky advisers, the complaint relies on the OCCRP report in three more instances.
It claims:
- Ukraine’s prosecutor general Yuriy Lutsenko “also stated that he wished to communicate directly with Attorney General Barr on these matters.”
- Giuliani “had spoken in late 2018 to former Prosecutor General Shokin, in a Skype call arranged by two associates of Mr. Giuliani.”
- “Associates” of Giuliani were trying “to make contact with the incoming Zelensky team.”
Along with Soros’ Open Society Foundation, OCCRP says its funders are Google, the National Endowment for Democracy, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund and the U.S. State Department Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor.
This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone who has been paying attention and following along. Soros publicly declared that he was after this type of outcome at Davos in January 2017. Everyone should realize by now that when Soros says he is “convinced” of something, he has rallied his resources to ensure that outcome is achieved.

Guys like Soros are very dangerous. They have enough resources at their disposal to buy candidates lock, stock, and barrel. Anyone looking for a payout and who is willing to tie their name to some sort of political agenda can get paid what is a lot of money to them, but peanuts to guys like Soros. The whole point is to shift perception of reality which does not help the advancement of democracy. In this case, I could see Soros spending a lot of money on the campaigns and PACs of Democrats pushing the impeachment proceedings. They need cash in order to keep their political careers alive and Soros has plenty of it.
When you get government out of the day to day operations of business and out of the business of picking winners and losers…the money vanishes. No one will try to corrupt a politician who can do nothing for them…
Soros on the other hand is all about a borderless one world government and he will buy anyone who will support that ideology and pay to destroy anyone who opposes it.
Why is George Soros permitted to constantly disrupt everything! He operates with total impunity when everyone in this country knows he should be putting prison for the rest of whatever natural life he’s got left!
Because he is the paymaster of the political elite in this country. Trump really should be going after him but he won’t. Just like Clinton and Obama will never see the inside of a courtroom or a jail cell.
George Soros should be declared an enemy of the state, his citizenship revoked and his US assets confiscated. He is rotten to his very core.
Soros owns the Dems and most of the government.

It is common knowledge that George Soros has been openly supporting the leftist movements in America against free speech and" inclusive" demonstrations that do everything but unite the people of America. He has personally funded the destruction and removal of our nation’s history and instigated weak minded college students to mirror the Bolshevik riots of pre-Nazi Germany.
Yeah, Soros is a liberal and holds political views different than you. The point that the right, guys like Hannity and Lintball are trying to push is that Soros equates to OCRRP and vise versa. That’s because they don’t know a damn thing about the organization and aren’t doing the research.
Soros is but one donor to OCRRP, it’s a very popular organization who’s donations increased by 476% last year. They do an amazing job busting criminal behavior in governments, organizations and individuals around the world, and people/groups from all political walks of life donate and support them.
