There was plenty of evidence; Smollett was cooked, but he did this in Cook County with a crooked prosecutor so he got his get out of jail free card. Some people, like the first OJ trial are so stupid that they buy whatever the left tells them to think- in this case - that there was insufficient evidence.

There’s also proof that he mailed some hazardous materials to himself and blamed it on the white guys. And there’s also the proof of purchasing the supplies. The people who he hired also admitted it.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel strongly condemned the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office decision to drop all charges against Jussie Smollett, calling it a “whitewash of justice.”
“This is a whitewash of justice,” Emanuel said Tuesday afternoon during a fiery press conference alongside Chicago police superintendent Eddie Johnson. “A grand jury could not have been clearer.”
Emanuel also condemned the justice system at large, saying the decision “sends a clear message that if you’re in a position of influence and power you’ll get treated one way, other people will get treated another way. There is no accountability, then, in the system. It is wrong. Full stop.”
He ended by going after Smollett again, saying that his comments earlier on Tuesday prove he “still no sense of ownership of what he’s done. This a person, now, who has been let off scot-free, with no sense of accountability of the moral and ethical wrong of his actions.”
The Chicago PD is pissed as well, seeing as how the little shit is still running around claiming he was innocent and they railroaded him.

I agree with his concerns. If they had evidence to convict, they should have convicted him. Period.
If they had evidence and didn’t (which could be the case) then this sends the wrong message on many levels.
Yeah, there is also talk about suing the City. This jackwagon does not know when to let it drop. He’s damn lucky his Obama connections got his ass out of trouble.
He needs to pay for this. Money and connections should not make you immune to paying the consequences for our actions. I really have a problem with allowing that to happen, no matter the situation.

Smollett received a letter containing a white powder Jan. 22. The letter was mailed to Chicago’s Cinespace Studios, where the show “Empire” is filmed. The letter prompted a HAZMAT response. CPD says the “white substance” was later determined to be aspirin.
Federal charges should be next .
