“We quickly found two persons of interest on video that we believed were the likely offenders in this case,” said Wodnicki. About 35 different police cameras and 20 private-sector cameras were used to track the suspects. Wodnicki also confirmed that the police executed more than 50 search warrants and subpoenas looking into phone and social-media records of the parties involved in this investigation.
The two brothers seen in the video were eventually identified through a rideshare they used to flee the scene. On Friday, February 15, after 47 hours of the brothers being in custody, and hours of interrogation, they were no longer considered suspects in the case. They became witnesses to the crime.
Based on the evidence the brothers provided and that the police uncovered (including the payment from Smollett), the State Attorney’s Office approved charges against the actor this week. Johnson said Smollett orchestrated the attack to further his own career, and believes he ultimately wanted the staged attack to be captured on camera.
In a security video from January 28, the two brothers can even be seen purchasing items like a ski mask, red hat, sunglasses, and rope that were used in the incident.

His attorneys said that he voluntarily agreed to forfeit the $10,000 he paid, but asserted that no plea deal had been struck and the state dismissed the charges and sealed the case.
What is the city doing taking that money if he is innocent? Like hell it wasn’t a plea deal. If it wasn’t, it looks like a bribe.
Apparently Obama’s former chief of staff, Tina Tchen, contacted Kim Foxx, the Chicago-area’s lead prosecutor, before charges were brought against Smollett in February to request that the police department let the FBI take over the investigation.

No apology, no nothing. Arrogant little prick. Apparently he has some legal/professional connections in Chicago, and the attorney general who said she recused herself, unrecused herself by stating that the case against him had been dropped. Of course, they can’t have false allegations convicted. That would be detrimental to most of the Black community and their much needed victim complex. 
Though, I do hear that he might still be charged with mail fraud. He needs to be an example to the public, to show that just because you’re a certain ethnicity, does not give you the excuse to commit felonies and blame them on other people. This action of nearly all charges against Smollett going poof is blatantly racist. But of course, the Liberals don’t care because he’s Black, and Black people are always above White people.

Nooo don’t you remember? Black people can’t be privileged or racist because they are systematically, automatically oppressed. Even though systematic racism such as Jim Crow laws were abolished more than 50 years ago.
Actually you cannot make that comparison. Because he didn’t even get a trial. Just aquitted, before the evidence could be evaluated in court. Everyone deserves the right to a hearing, but not to be aquitted before a trial has even begun.
You know what he and his lawyers did was corrupt.
