When you look back to day one of the Trump administration and the swamp rats he brought with him, several of whom are now convicted felons, he fed the so called “swamp”, and the republicans, several of whom were defeated by Trump in the primaries, loudly declared that Trump was completely unsuited for the high office. But they viewed the man with no core principles or ideology as a useful stooge to advance right wing ideology, and they proceeded to protect him for four years to achieve it…
Now, at the last minute some of them are jumping ship, but it’s far too late…

They’re not supporting him because they’re corrupt and it’s not in their own self interest. With him there, they cannot maintain the corruption that makes them rich. They produce nothing, they simply steal from others.
Trump hasn’t prevented any corruption in DC, he’s a contributor to it himself. He’s accomplished nothing in that regard and things will remain as they were. Term limits, which you referenced earlier, remain the only solution, and that’s impossible considering that those who would constitutionally bring that about, are the chief beneficiaries of no term limits…
So unless you’re an advocate of violence, you accept the status quo with the caveat that it could always be worse…looking about the world…
I get the point but I think it’s a mistake to categorize them as such, I think they’re far more sinister than that. When I hear coward, I think of someone that can be confronted and stopped with little effort. These folks are in a position that may well end this country. Stopping them is going to be a chore if it’s not already too late. I think the first bubbles of the boiling pot have risen to the surface yesterday and the heat isn’t being turned down. This is going to boil over eventually and I hope to God it doesn’t end up in civil war.
