Act 1: BREAKING: Mass Shooting At El Paso Walmart…

Just to set the record straight - I have nothing against guns per se, but we’ve been talking here about mass shootings, and my argument has been predicated upon the undeniable fact that (I repeat) without guns there can be no shootings??

As it happens I went to the barber’s this morning, and on the way I saw this punk-type coming towards me on the same pavement (usually they only come out at night!); I drifted to the opposite side of the pavement, and the next thing I knew (I’d been looking down so as to avoid the dog crap), he was only a couple of paces directly in front of me, so I had to step aside: it was obviously a provocation, but if there was an incident, nothing would have given me greater pleasure than to have a gun to point at him and say ‘In a few seconds from now you could be dead.’ It’s a sad fact of modern life that there are some life-forms who don’t deserve to live.

Yes we all get that and a world without guns is an unachievable fantasy.

No law will keep evil people from getting guns to prey on the weak.

The only thing that levels the playing field is when the weak can defend themselves with firearms.

If you can’t disarm the crims, you shouldn’t disarm anyone.

A country that can send men to the moon surely can put an end to rampant crime.
Somebody said that.

There’s something strange about America’s gun crime rate (be it by blacks or other).

After peaking in 97 our violent crime rate has fallen by about 60% and is now at it’s lowest levels since the sixties.

It took a common goal and teamwork to send men to the moon.

Crime reflects breaking of laws.

You are comparing apples and oranges.

Exactly. No gov’t program can stop individuals from deciding to commit violent crimes.

Going to the moon was a national effort but was under the close control of the DOD and NASA.

Great article! Love it, however it does pose some conflicting things to think about!

I’m flat out shocked. I would never in a million years have expected to see anything as honest and straightforward as this printed in FP Mag.

Great article, thanks for finding it.

“When we fail to lock up criminals, society becomes a prison. When we don’t institutionalize the insane, then society becomes an insane asylum. When we don’t stop foreign gangs and terrorists from entering our country, then we wake up one day to realize that we are living in El Salvador, Mexico, Pakistan, or Iraq.”

I’d love to hear a congressperson read that article while in session.

No kidding, it would be great to have it in the congressional record.
