OTâŚGrowing up in an Italian/American home two blocks from the Pacific ocean we ate a lot of seafood more then just on Fridayâs. Squid, (aka calamari), Octopus, sea urchins, clams âyou name itâ all kinds of fish & shell fish and mackerel is the one I remember liking the best. 
I havenât had it in years. 
My grandmother made mackerel gravy. I never cared for the fish; but the gravy was the catâs ass. Poured over bread with fried potatoes. I canât describe the flavor; ya just gotta find the recioe & make it. Poach the fish in a large frying pan; then remove the fish ( I think ) & add milk. Poor it over the bread , etc. Still very popular in PAâs Coal Regions. Iâll try to find the recipe.
