Why is Everyone Against Socialism?

We have lived for a long time under a system of taxation for government (social) services that has grown according to public demand. Democratic socialists such as Sanders espouse a further expansion of the same. Too many people continue to insist A, that Sanders is a (straight) socialist and B of equating socialism with communism despite the differences.

Sanders has stated that he does not support the main tenant of socialism which is the government control of the means of production.

Democratic socialism, Sanders said, is not tied to any Marxist belief or the abolition of capitalism. ā€œI donā€™t believe government should own the means of production, but I do believe that the middle class and the working families who produce the wealth of America deserve a fair deal,ā€ he said.

One point, it isnā€™t MY assertion.

I was just mentioning that people have advanced it.

If ā€œwhiteā€ makes ā€œnationalismā€ automatically bad, keeping in mind that the Left will portray some as ā€œwhite nationalistā€ simply because they are white while being nationalist, then why could other ethnic nationalisms get a pass? Remember me mentioning that black nationalism get a pass with many on the Left? Or that some people are deemed incapable of being racist if theyā€™re of certain ethnicities?

Again, we come back to who is making definitions and why.

Earlier you mentioned Bannon as a racist so I looked up what a more or less mainstream for the Left publication said about why he was a racist ā€¦ and it indicated that being against ā€œmulticulturalism, immigration, feminism and, above all, political correctness.ā€ is what qualified him as a racist.

Now, you may disagree that NPR is mainstream for the Left, but do you agree with how they decide who is a racist?

If youā€™ve repeated the assertion that he is, and itā€™s for such things as these, then knowing how that sort of person actually defines who is a racist helps you know how much you really agree with them in their assessments.

Correct, I did mean to address it that way, sorry for that.

Not all ā€œnationalistsā€ are ā€œwhite nationalistsā€. But certainly those who self proclaim, are.

Iā€™ve observed that a lot of it comes down to who sees who under their beds ā€¦ sometimes it reaches comical levels and each who sees the other who under their respective bed, they listen to an believe the same sort of conspiracy theories (with added zest in the form that this results in the possibility of cheering rather than dreading) and in general actually feed each other with their blogs and videos providing accumulating piles of proof of what the others think is really what they are said to think ā€¦ merry go round fashion.

Mere self identification is no where near as entertaining to watch.

Ultimately we have ended up with a spiraling descent into madness as with the transgender crowd.

And I donā€™t subscribe to any of that.

I do understand however why African Americans (and I want to be careful not to be all inclusive or broadbrush as there are no doubt exceptions) have a divergent view on the subject as their ancestors endured the most horrific and sometimes unspeakable human misery and suffering at the hands of white Americans, and while that misery and suffering was much relieved following the northern states intervention, and the abolition of the institution of slavery, the pain and suffering by no means ended, and discrimination ensued quite horrifically thereafter, particularly towards African Americans which remained in former slave states.

Much wealth was lost as a result of abolition, AND, as it so often the case, the abused victims became acutely hated and demonized by the perpetrators.

I grew up in SoCal and didnā€™t see the extremes that my wife did who came from the south and witnessed things at school that blow my mind.

There is still so much healing thatā€™s needed in race relations, and so much hate that still abounds.

I had a neighbor back in 2008 whom I no longer associate with that told me that he had never voted before (he was 62 at the time) and was going down to register and would be voting in the upcoming elections. When I asked him why he said ā€œbecause Iā€™ll be god damned if Iā€™m going to have a ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  for a presidentā€.

That sentiment is rampant in rural Oklahoma where I have a ranch and spend a portion of my time. Oklahoma as you likely know is an exceedingly red state.

True, thereā€™s nothing entertaining about a white nationalist.

bingo

or race/ethnicity

NPR is not the decider of anything. Steve Bannon co-founded Breitbart News which he declared is the single best platform for the Alt-Right.

The alt-right , an abbreviation of alternative right , is a loosely connected far-right, white supremacist, white nationalist, white separatist, anti-immigrationand sometimes antisemitic movement based in the United States. A largely online phenomenon, the alt-right originated in the U.S. during the 2010s although it has since established a presence in various other countries. The term is ill-defined, having been used in different ways by various self-described ā€œalt-rightistsā€, media commentators, and academics.

This doctor so-and-so.
He is the most despicable coward I have ever seen.

Look, socialism is born of the 19th century ideology about the masses over individuals.
Individuals are nothing in the massive society.
Thatā€™s what socialism/communism is all about.
And its ultimate extension is ā€œglobalismā€

The world over nation states.

Cowardice has nothing to do with it you moron! This is just to point out your stupidity you regularly display here by purposely trying to derail threads because you are desperate for attention! Get a clue!

That is just one aspect of the greater perspective! Post Modernism is destroying western culture as we know it because the Cultural Marxistā€™s have used its theories and weaponized them in every narrative pertaining to social issues to gain political power! The layman hasnā€™t begun to understand why, only that things such as transgenderism in sports, open borders, gun control, and a litany of abnormalities of human behavior that is perpetuated and encouraged by the media seems to be outrageous and the only solution is a political one. I argue that is much, much more than just having a political solution that is going to balance the rightful order of things.

Oh this is rich! This is a must see! (satire) This guy is posing asā€¦

A Bernie burping soy boy that says that Communism never really failed because it has never been tried before. Also he says that rich people shouldnā€™t be able to have all the stuff because they took all the risks. Nevermind the feminist voice, this is Bernieā€™s base! Hillarious!

@Patriot @Tyfoon more thread derailment.

@Patriot @Tyfoon more of the same.

Donā€™t feed it, just report it and move on.

If you wish to discuss Bernie Sanders, please start another thread.

I am merely discussing, here, the comparative virtues of " a low-tax society, coupled with meager government services, [versus]ā€¦a high-tax society, coupled with generous government services."

Right, and as America increased taxes and social services, so increased personal wealth, a middle class and the American standard of living. America became number one at nearly everything.

Then came the permanent war economy, where America remains at war (currently bombing 7 countries that most Americans couldnā€™t even name or identify on a map) hemorrhaging our wealth while we slip from the number one spot in everything from infrastructure to life expectancy.
