After the deceit of the Minsk Agreement (by Poroshenko, Angela Merkel and who else?) Russia is not likely to trust anyone in the west.
End of the Ukraine war means unconditional capitulation or total destruction of Ukraine. Russia has no choice.

I have no desire to read the article Kissinger wrote, but Alexander Mercouris breaks it down for me.
Bottom line, the west — in particular the neocons — is now engaged in damage control and preparing for the inevitable collapse of the entire Ukrainian military, which will lead to the partition of Ukraine, roughly along the linguistic lines between Ukraine, Russian and Hungarian.
Partitioning of Ukraine is the right thing to do, and its what should have happened to Iraq years ago if we had people who actually valued human life over profit and greed. (See Haliburton)

High military budgets doesn’t necessarily equate to better security. There are other countries in the world who are better and do a much better job with less.

Russia’s military budget is surprisingly low.
Most of the US military budget winds up in the pockets of the politicians and executives of major arms industry — and their bankers and share holders.

Not to mention that the United States has over 800 military basis around the world. If that is not imperialism I don’t know what is and that is a lot of mouths to feed. They just took over the hegemony from Great Britain and continued it after WWII. Now China wants to be the same model as the US, no surprise there. Wash rinse and repeat. Nations rise nations fall, and the US is no different and can be considered modern day Babylon!
Russia is smart with their money when it comes to military spending and I wouldn’t be surprised its because they are not compromised by greedy private R&D military weapons industry who seek profit over security which is America’s demise!
Aircraft carriers, which are virtual floating towns, ought to be very expensive to build and maintain, but they have lost their military significance. I know nothing about military matters but it’s not very hard to imagine in the age of missiles and drones.
This is hardly news, but it’s not talked about much in the west. Poland wants to annex western Ukraine. Talk about having an axe to grind. LOL
Poland can easily drag other NATO countries such as Germany and France into direct confrontation with Russia, which they don’t want.

Aircraft carriers are almost obsolete as was the Battleship! The Ford which is by most estimations the biggest aircraft carrier ever built will be useless against what China has that can take them out pretty easily.

Fighting continues in Opytnoye on Shkolnaya Street. Ukrainian troops have set up additional strongholds in multi-storey buildings in the private sector west of the street.
On the night of 22 December, the 28th Mechanized Brigade regrouped and shelled Russian positions in Kurdyumovka from Belaya Gora with several tanks.
Then reserves were sent from Konstantinovka to support, whereupon the AFU combat groups managed to break through and stabilise the situation. However, AFU losses in this area amounted to 20 killed and 16 wounded.
In the Kurdyumovka direction, assault units of the 28th AFU Mechanized Brigade attempted a counterattack. Due to an ambush by the RF Armed Forces, the 28th Brigade have been encircled.
AFU formations are using strongholds set up in residential buildings to slow down the Wagner advance. Reinforcements have been moved from Krasny.
In Kleshchiyevka, the Wagnerians have pushed forces of the 103rd the Territorial Defence Brigade from the eastern outskirts of the town.
Bakhmut Section: Wagner PMC assault troops advance along Fyodor Maksimenko Street. The AFU are planning a counteroffensive in separate sections to push the Russian troops out of the town limits.
Special Forces of the National Guard and paratroopers of the AFU have arrived in the town. In the area of the dam east of the waste sorting plant, fire positions of tank groups are being set up.
