U.S. Warships Enter Disputed Waters of South China Sea as Tensions With China Escalate

The main reason for that is the Japanese know we’re really the only defensive shield they have against China, Russia, and N. Korea.

South Vietnamese (i.e. not the viet cong) and the US have been, and still are allies. In fact, may Vietnamese envy the set-up the Koreans have with their countries. Ever since the Vietnam War suffered the “political defeat”, misery has been distributed evenly across the country, and we stay perpetually " under developed" despite the abundance in natural and human resources.

There are no “bad blood” between the US and the true Vietnamese (again, not the viet cong), and don’t let anyone else tell you otherwise.

And yes, I understand that you are referring to the current communist Vietnam. Let me tell you this, even they understand that China is not a friend despite the ideological overlaps. They have colonized Vietnam for 1000 years in the past, and they would do so in a heart beat if the guards are down.

We paid dearly in blood for that alliance so after many years there was enough time to allow reflection to set in as to how it all worked out. Vietnam likes the fact their economy is thriving under a capitalist system and the fact that China is trying to claim their own territorial waters and violate international laws doesn’t sit well with them. Vietnam took the high road by being consistent with the courts by filing their grievances to show China doesn’t respect any country’s sovereignty and international law. This is going to be a very big problem for them down the road. They want to play by their own set of rules but still be part of the international community. They can’t have it both ways. During this covid-19 crisis they been ramping up military ship production which should tell you they are gearing up for a military confrontation and not actively trying to help the world community to fight this virus. IMO this virus outbreak was intentional and the optics of their actions says so.

This is true it’s part of the agreement with Japan after their surrender and dismantling of their military after WWII. We have a lot of USA military bases in Japan in addition to the Naval 7th fleet at Yokosuka.

ICAM! Why would they stop travel to/from Yuhan within China but allow Yuhan residents to travel around the globe? It’s pretty damning evidence for sure.

The correct term is “premeditated.” When taking into account what they have done since then pretty much renders out a guilty verdict.

I can imagine a scenario where it might come to that. Getting the bill for covid 19 will not sit well with China, and they could certainly use it as pretext to colonize by force.

Doing so, however would cost the Chinese dearly as all exports to the first world would be embargoed, and their revenue stream would dry up.

China is heavily dependent on imported agricultural goods as they alone could never feed their own people.

The VC have been gone since Tet. They were completely destroyed as a fighting force and never figured into the war beyond.

The NVA, the North Vietnamese Army continued and absorbed what was left of the others and that’s who defeated S. Vietnam in the end and continues to this day under communist rule.

My brother is half Vietnamese so I’m pretty familiar with how that all turned out.

All of the senior officers and NCO’s I worked with for the first ten years or so I was in the service were also Vietnam Vets.

The South Vietnamese were defeated by the lack of support from the USA.

In 1972, Church and Senator Clifford Case of New Jersey were able to push through the Senate an amendment to foreign-aid legislation that would end funding for all U.S. military operations in Southeast Asia except for withdrawal (subject to the release of all prisoners of war).

That’s really not true. We gave them everything they needed to win, they just didn’t have the stomach for it.

That’s just plain bad.

Yep, and mostly on the US which is how we finally brought Xi down.

Everyone who knows nothing was convinced they’d just get their grains and rice elsewhere but neither the volume nor supply chain exists to do so.

In the end they were buying from brokers in S. America who had to buy it from us and then sold it to China and with that they still lacked the capacity to deliver it in volume.

All correct sir. Brazil is aligned with Trump and the long term plan to have fair and balanced trade with our neighbors has always been in the works. We need to take back the Panama Canal!

Your brother is half Vietnamese but you’re not?

What, are you still fighting it on Okinawa then? Actually it wouldn’t surprise me! Get a grip Roxiebell. You might have plenty of hardware but you don’t have the basic nous to use it wisely. Do I need to mention (and this is only in recent history) Iraq, or Afghanistan?

We should take Panama period. Have you ever been down there?

Amazing place.

We need a new “Compaq Of The Americas”, whereby we have not only free trade for the whole hemisphere but economic cooperation up and down from the Arctic to the Antarctic for all free nations.

We have most of the world’s remaining natural resources, great education/sci/tech, and a workforce of about 750,000,000.

An alliance like that would dominate the entire world for as far into the future as we can see and would raise the standard o living for the entire hemisphere to that of the US or even better than We’ve ever had it prior.

Fuck China, they should be utterly destroyed economically for what they have done here.

Yeah Panama is absolutely beautiful. I have friends who own property there as well as Belize.

We definitely need to invest in the America’s it’s our ■■■■■■ While others focus on Africa, we need to be paying closer attention to our own back yard for a change.
