I think you are missing the point that “D” is articulating here! It’s pointless in trying to lay blame on the previous generation and now it is up to your generation to fix the problem. If you fail in that endeavour then you are no better than the previous generation, then the next Generation will probably cast dispersions your way for being inept! In other words instead of trying to paint with a broad brush and playing the blame game why not try a more positive unifier and arrive at a solution so the next generation does not continue the negative cycle of pointing the finger?

That previous generation you are referring to is still alive, still working, and feathering their nest to take in as much as possible while saddling my generation with their mess. My two cents. Good argument though.
