It was a Trump double. It was just a show for the sheep. As for Melania, they couldn’t find a real look-alike, so the Melania double had to hide her eyes.
The assassination risk is still great, even though they moved the venue indoors by modifying the weather, which can easily be accomplished this day and age.
(Real Trump was inaugurated somewhere else.)
