Trump Administration Revokes Obama-Era School Leniency Policy for Minorities

The Trump administration has revoked an Obama-era policy that urged public schools to employ more lenient forms of discipline for students of color and of other minority groups.

Remember some of the absolutely ridiculous policies supported by the Obama administration? This is one I’d forgotten about.

Researchers, Butcher said, have found the Obama-era policy often delivered negative outcomes for students in districts that implemented it.

“As a result, dangerous students could remain in the classroom,” he observed, adding that the policy ignored the importance of “the impacts of a student’s neighborhood and family support on school behavior.”

Only a liberal would think rewarding negative behavior with leniency would result in a positive change in behavior.

I’m happy to see some common sense prevailing.

“Das rasis!” “Dem gud bois, dindu nuffins!” Now when some psycho mongoloid gets violent in school, he won’t have a chance to come back later and shoot the place up. Why did it take this long is my question?

Er, because liberals in all of their glorious arrogance believe they can re-invent the wheel?

Obama did this because Blacks and Hispanics were getting disciplined at three times the rate of White and Asian students.

This reversal is almost guaranteed to make schools safer. No one in their right mind would ever put a rabid animal in a classroom with children, but that’s exactly what Obama and his socialist friends did.

Of course it will make schools safer.

That bad behavior deserves a pass because of race is something only a deranged mind would even remotely consider.

“Restorative talking”? Really? That even sounds stupid.

And apparently it doesn’t work for those sent to it. However, little as I can stand Obama, there’s some truth to the idea that minority students who engage in misconduct are targeted more for discipline & arrests than white students.

I’ve volunteered in public school where a particularly problematic student from a white family kept getting sent back to class. A few of the high schools that have top rankings in my neck of the woods have everything from drugs to a lockdown at one last year because a student claimed a firearm was in his locker. Massachusetts is not an easy state to acquire a firearm.

Problem students—black, white, whatever—should be referred to alternative schools so those who want to learn can.

Why, yes it certainly does.

Then they shouldn’t engage in misconduct, especially if they know they are under more of a microscope than white students.

The “white student” should have been removed so other students could learn without drama or interruption.

Agreed. We need our kids to be in a safe environment, drama free, so they can focus on their studies. Everyone should support this and everyone should support removing problem students regardless of race or country of origin.

And by wheel you mean males.

Only one piece of the puzzle.
